i think i have an idea of my emissions prob
i think i have located the problem in my car and why it wont pass emissions. the sylenoid rack on the top of the engine.
tell me hwat u guys think aobut my problem.
there are 5 sylenoids on the rack, there is a Vacum controll sylenoid, a switching sylinoid, a shutter vaulve sylinoid, a relief sylinoid, and the air con sylinoid.
only 2 of the 5 sylinoids are getting power, and those are the shutter vaulve, and the reliefe. is that a problem??? is is that normal when the car is only on accessory??? rob from pineapple said to go through and wahtever ones dont have power, run them to a switch in the car, so when i go to do the emissions testings, i can just switch them on, and have themn working. would that work??? or do i need to replace or rewire the harness????

I think you can probably eliminate the A/C solenoid as a possible source of the problem as I believe it just sets the idle up higher when the A/C is switched on. As far as the other solenoids, I think they switch on and off as engine conditions change, so they probably would not all be energized simultaneously when the engine is not running. I must admit that this is a complete guess, so take it for what it's worth. If there is a vacuum leak, sometimes people will adjust the carb to compensate for the poor idle, thinking their carb is out of adjustment. If the leak is slight, the carb can be adjusted so that the vacuum leak is virtually unnoticable. I believe that this adjustment actually richens the idle mixture, which could cause an emissions problem. When the leak is found and repaired, the carb will then need to be readjusted. I've had this very thing happen to me. Perhaps something similar is going on with your car, I don't know. Just some things to consider. Hope you get 'er figured out. -Mike

i had rob take a look at it, and he set the timing, and the idle so that is all correct, but i test power all the way back to the ECU,a nd all taht otehr fun ****, and there is no power what so ever going into any of the sylinoids ATALL.
