Arrow I THINK i found the problem! (pics) hose thread part 2

hey check out these new pics..

(overview: i am experiencing alot of heavy fuel smell thay is driving me crazy because its getting in my clothes and is slowly killing me - the problem is.. one or more hoses are just venting in the atmosphere and the fumes arent being consumed by the engine as it should)

note: only one hose is connected to my charcoal canister and i dunno where the other hose is . a pic of it can be found here

------- on with the show------

i found a hose thats not connected to anything but i dunno wat hose it is.. can anyone tell me?

here is a pic of that hose

another angle

here is another pic of the hose.. and also i am pointing to a rubber valve of sum sort that is blocking off one of the metal hoses..

another pic of that mystery rubber valve

me holding it for a closer look - and im wondering maybe i can just use this to clock off all the open hoses can anyone tell me if this is safe or not?

and also i found another hose thats pointing down that is not connected to anything.. its coming from the firewall and points down like a un horny *****..

can anyone help me

please please please

Trace that first hose dude. I bet it goes to your trasnsmission. I'm %99.5 sure its for the transmission. Its your kickdown line. It heeds to be hooked to manifold vacuum. Looks like whoever added the weber setup just disconnected it (dumbass). Not you, whoever put on the weber setup.

It helps the transmission shift correctly under load. Find a source of manifold vacuum (tee off the brake booster nipple if you have to) and hook into it.

you know where your brake mastercylinder is? (Where you add brake fluid) That big circle black thing behind, should have a hose running from it, to the intake manifold..... T into that... (little plastic T tube) and hook up that tranny line......

If the brake booster line doesnt hook to the manifold.... I say dont take your car back to that place... or let whoever put it on, touch the car....

Laters Andrew....

The booster hose needs to be hooked into the manifold to get your power brakes to work.

Your brakes would work, youd just have no power assist. Meaning youd have to press reall hard on the pedal to get it to stop.

NO, tee off the booster hose as close to the intake manifold as possible. Then run the transmission line to the tee.

if yur not too busy... can ya give me a rundown on how that thing works and why the hose needs to be connected there..

is that like sucking air in.. or blowing air out?

or sumthing else?

and after i connect this transmission line to the manifold.. that still wont stop the smell huh?

cheers

Suuuuuuuure!
Learn about power brakes.
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/power-brake.htm

As for the transmission hose, it goes to a vacuum valve on the transmission. This gives better control of up and downshifting.

As for the crankcase vent, it pulls the fumes out of the crankcase into the engine. This keeps oil contamination to a minimum.

No it wont stop the smell. You need to set up your fuel venting system. Theres a small line (vent line) from your fuel tank that comes out in the engine compartment along with your main fuel and you fuel return lines. This small vent line goes to the charcol cannister. HTH

Either replace the trans hose with a longer one or extend it with another piece of hose.

Hey man, shoot a pic of each side of your engine compt from enough distance to show all the hoses and crap on that side, mainly the left side. You need to remove a bunch of **** and get the rest hooked up right.

On my 84 GS the hose to the white sensor your holding in your 3rd pic is to the air conditioning throttle assist valve. If you don't have AC, plug it. I did. Also, get a Factory Manual. all sensors are color coded.
