"how the heck do you get the slave cylinder and clutch hose disconnected from the rest of the system?!? I tried to wrench it apart where the hose connected to the slave but it would not budge!"

Sounds like it's been connected for awhile (maybe 22 years?) so it's pretty stuck. Put some PB blaster on it and let it soak overnight, try it and repeat if it's still not giving. But if I understand you correctly, aren't you putting in a new slave and clutch line? If so you can just chuck the old line and cylinder in the trash, without disconnecting them.

If your problem is up where the clutch line connects to the pipe coming from the master cylinder, you need to be careful because you don't want to wreck that pipe. Again lots of PB blaster and soaking will help and be sure to use to tight fitting wrenches on both sides of the joint so that you don't torque the pipe. Sounds like you've got some good plans Alex, keep up the good work.

Alex- If you are going to be replacing the master and slave cylinders anyway, you might want to consider getting a new hose as well. That way you won't have to disassemble your old setup, just bolt in the new one and you're done.

Yup, I've got some news...

I broke my starter trying to reinstall it.

I did get a new clutch hose and slave cylinder though.

Talk to you soon,

I like this Alex guy, he's a breath of fresh air. Nice work Alex, I think I have a spare starter lying around if you want to pay the shipping, or check on ebay, sometimes you can find new rebuilds for a reasonable price, or expect to pay about $80.00 for a new one from Mazda, not a bad option.
