I need help figuring out what kind of cars I have

I saved 2 fb's from turning into dirt for really cheap. One is a complete car, basically parked outside never to be drove again, then the other is less fortunate. I have the vin for the more fortunate, possibly frankenstein car that I want decoded. I'm pretty sure it's a pre-1981, no decoder will run it. It is JM1FB331990523014, I just want to know what it is, its features. The other I will get the vin for later. Thank you!

Odd... I can't get anything! Maybe I need to double check on the vin, in the meantime I'll gather what I can.

I don't think any decode will work with 1st gen vins but I may be wrong.

the vin you have is missing the letter for the year...

it doesn't tell you much you didn't already know, but it breaks down like this
JM1FB331990523014

J = Japan
M1 = mazda
FB33 = Rx7
1 = 12A
9 = check digit, this is some thing someone is supposed to be able to generate to make sure the vin isn't faked?

9 = model year. this should be a letter.

0 = assembly plant, 0 is hiroshima, every rotary was built here.

523014 = car #

to ID the car you need to look at it.

the GSL is the easiest to ID, as it will have a sunroof, and a rear wiper. the rear wiper had a washer nozzle, so there will be the nozzle, or the holes for 2 nozzles in the roof.

also the gsl had a/c and rear discs, and power mirrors and windows.

a GS will have power mirrors, and usually a sunroof, but no wiper

an S can be hard to spot from a GS, but it has no sunroof, manual mirrors and AC was an option

SA is obviously different. Another change from the exterior is the gas door. 81-82 gas door has a key, none for 83-85 as there is a switch to open it.

also ...

gauge clusters and dashboards - S2s vs. S3s.

S2 speedos - '81-'82 vs. '83

however, you also need to keep in mind that some previous owners could have swapped parts around.

J = japan
M1 = Mazda
FB33 = Rx7 coupe, the vert is a 35
1 = 12A, 2 = 13B/or turbo
9 = check digit
A = 1981 model, 82 is b, and so forth
0 = assembly plant, hiroshima
5 = model year. 5 is 81, 6 is 82, and so forth
23014 car number

I still need to look at these cars again. You guys have been very informative though, thank you, I may be able to get this figured out once I see them.
The good car looks like a higher trim, so I'll be much happier to see it run. I can never promise it will ever be pretty or sturdy again though.

On the gs cars I have an 85 gs with rear wiper and the deluxe gslse style radio, but no rear washer. It came like that from the factory.
