Run a compression check, check for spark, change the fuel filter and report back.

If your thread had a better title, you would get more responses. Users usually cruise the main page, read the title, and if they feel they can help or are interested for other reasons then they will come in and check it out.

Give her a good tune up and see what she says then...

Hi Murry, welcome to the forum and the Darkside. Guessing you're an Aussie.

We need a bit more info. What have you done for mechanical repairs, if any, general condition, any other issues, et.. You don't need to write a novella, but more pertinent info will help trouble shooting At present it could be bad fuel, tired ignition, carb needs rebuilt, tossed a seal, yada yada yada.

In my sig is a link to the online FSMs, carb manual etc. Download and read...............then read more and familiarize yourself with terms and parts.

Murray, you are not providing much info. AS someone else said on your other thread, trying to get more info from you is like trying to pull teeth from someone.

If you want people to write answers using words, then you have to come up with and write some very specific words to describe your problem. You have a racing engine, that has to be tuned just right to run right.

Exactly what rpm and throttle setting (half throttle, full throttle, etc.) does it start popping?
Does it pop back thru the carb, or does it pop out the exhaust?
Is the ignition system in perfect condition?
How many miles are on the spark plugs?
What colour are the spark plugs?
How old is the fuel filter?
How many psi fuel pressure does your fuel pressure gauge read when it is popping?

If you want answers to your questions, then you have to provide more info. Please answer each and every one of my questions in the above paragraph, and we will try and guide you.

Backfires/poping in the exhaust can come from several sources. Timing, AFRs, ignition breakup, vacuum and/or exhaust leaks. Bridgeports only make the problem worse. Also keep in mind that with porting and exhaust mods, this can be quite common and the nature of the beast so to speak.

If you peruse the AusRotary.com forum, you should be albe to find vids of fellow countrymen's bridgeys. Listen closely to thier exhaust notes and compare them to your's. That may give you some idea if you really have issues or if it's set up correctly.
