Unhappy I need help ;(

Hi my name is kenneth i own a first gen rx7 1985 12a 1.1 but other than that i dont know much about it i dont know if its street or what ever the other one is called i dont know where to find parts and i need i think its called the vaccum box lol if not it has the air-con SV and relief SV and so on it has 6 of them all to geather and 2 of them are broken on mine so manly i just need help learning all about it and would be very happy if someone would take the time to help please post on this thread or email me at kidvwilson@comcast.net

for the rats nest whats the name for it if i was to go buy it or can i do away with it? what should i do i need help and could not find info on the rats nest

Wow. That's a good question. Do any of us know what it's called?
Yes, you can remove it, but don't count on ever passing emissions again. The biggest plus to removing it si that you eliminate just about everything external that will make it run bad, so when something does go wrong, you've already eliminated about a thousand steps in trouble shooting, plus it's soooo much easier to work on.

U should do ways with it.heres some info on removing the rats nest http://www.ten15.net/Maz.Tutorials/index.html, just download removing the rats nest and u should be good. this is wat im workin on, i just need some type of cover plate for the ac cv valve and im good. jose

The rats nest is just part of the emissions control system and consists of vacuum operated solenoid valves. I don't think there's a specific name for what we call the rats nest.

Faster, no. It will clean up the engine bay and eliminate potential problems from 20 year old deteriorating parts. Makes trouble shooting and working on the engine easier, definitely not emmisions friendly. If you plan on keeping it stock, there are plenty of replacement solenoids floating around from all of the members that have removed thier's.

The '80 & '85 shop manuals call them "solenoid valves".
