I have seen the light!

well the weather has been dank and nasty and cold , ive been fighting random carb freeze up since installing my DANKUS SALVAGEYARD RACING cold air intake , well now its really cold and freezing rain and i got tired of fighting it, i put the factory aircleaner back on it and hooked the heat riser back up and walla what do you know it doesnt stall and sputter and puke any more, i think i can live with it till the weather warms up, any body else had this happen?

Actually having that happen on my FI'd car with a CAI intake I fabricated up for it. Doesn't happen until after I've driven about 10 miles or so at highway speeds and then cruise into town where I start noticing it around 40mph or so. It just starts acting like it is missing a spark at a sparkplug and jerks a bit. Only happens on the cold days we've been having here (single digits).

Happend when I did my cold air intake. I had to hook my heat riser back up as well. Guess we gotta wait till summer.

Two things. First - it's 'voila' not 'walla'. I've seen a lot of 'walla' recently and it really chapes my nipples - almost as badly as 'should of'. *shudder*

Second, an insulated or even straight-up cold-air intake is a bad thing when the weather is cold. A few weeks a year in FL, I pull mine and feel a performance improvement. Put it back on in Feb when the weather is back, and again - another increase in performance.

I'm sure you could stretch those few weeks into few months for the rest of the US.

Is this a Nikki problem? if so.........

Thats pretty funny!!! Cars should run better in cold weather not worse, and a cold air intake is the cause!!! hahaha boy Mazda knows how to put it to ya.........

Glad I don't have that problem with my SE She runs like a RAPED APE when its about 5deg outside and turbo cars REALLY love it.

It's just that a cold-air intake mixed with the cold weather than results in carb freezes.

I'd imagine that anything with a cold-air intake would experience similar problems in cold weather - nikki or not.
