i have searched this multiple times

my car will not idle without the choke pulled out, if it is half way it works but idles at about 2k - 3k. when pulled out all the way it idles anywhere from 750 - 2000k. i have tried for many hours trying to figure this out. It doesnt bother me too much that i have to drive with the choke pulled all the way but my wallet doesnt like it.

right when the choke goes in the car dies, so i had to rig up a stopper thingy

does anyone knwo what is causing this or have had the same issue, cause i havent heard of this before

Has the carb been rebuilt, changed your fuel filter, air filter, is the fuel pump original? Running with the choke richens the mixture, so you are not getting enough fuel, most likely.

I had the same problem, it was caused by the fuel pump. The rubber diafram had rotted up, and was not working right.

Good luck.

I had the exact same issue (a quarter seemed to be the right wedge to get it to idle). Carb Rebuild solved the problem. Hope that helps.

Sounds like a vac leak or the carb out of tune to me.

Mine used the do that and it turned out to be a mixture of the carb needing to be rebuilt and a vacuum leak.
