I have NO POWER

To make a long story short...

The bearings on my Powersteering pulley all burned out which caused the pulley to bounce around on the belt and bang on the A/C pulley....it actually frayed the AC belt from bouncing around.

So now I've completely removed the pulley and the shaft (it came out easily because the bearings were all burned from the heat in the power steering pump).

However, now, more than ever, my car is running REALLY sluggish now.

I've felt the power dying before but ever since this incident with the power steering pulley (2 days ago), I've really had an issue just to take off from a stop?

I have an '85 GSL, 5speed, 159000 miles, 12A. Also I just had a recent tuneup with my distributor cap+rotor replaced and I'm religious with my routine oil changes.

SYMPTOMS:
- There's alot of misfires in the exhaust ("putt, putt" noise)....(ignition? new spark plugs.)
- when I switch gears going up (eg. from second to third), a few seconds later after switching the RPM finally goes down then goes back up again to catch up, then I have my power for that gear (linkages?)
- I already tried the 5th gear trick: keep foot on brake, go into 5th then slowly release clutch....if it stalls, all is good....which mine is doing.

Also, this weekend we're going to go through and check all the vacuum hoses to make sure they're not cracked or anything.

IF anyone could help me out with ANY suggestion I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!!

The second symptom sounds like your clutch is slipping. Make sure all your plug wires are going to the right place.
