i HATE the city of Ann Arbor, and my BITCH of a neighbor!

alright, here's the deal. i sheared off a stud, and stripped a hole on my rotor, so i had to replace my rotor. i had no clue (never done brakes before) that you have to replace the bearing race's, so i didn't order them with my new rotor. i went to install my new rotor today, no luck. i had to special order new bearings, they'll be in in the morning. the only place that i have to work on my car that is safe is on the sidewalk. I had my car torn apart once i found out that i had to replace the bearing/race, so i left it in pieces waiting for the parts to arrive in the morning so i could fix it. I went out for a bike ride, and got a flat. as i was changing it i got a call from one of the guys that i live with saying that my car was getting towed. I told them to take it off the truck and wait 10 minutes 'til i could get home, it'd take me 20 tops to get my rotor/wheel on so i could move the car into the driveway, and i'd pay for the ticket/tow (or lack thereof). I get home, the ******* have my car already in the street! They tried to back my car up the driveway, almost hit my house TWICE in the process, and they dropped it off the jacks when they set it down! they bent my dust shield and the piece that connects the front bumper to the engine cradle (the sheet metal piece that directs air)! the lady was a complete BITCH when i talked to her, she was like "well, you're lucky that we even waited for you to get back here, we normally just hook and go". Oh, AND they dropped my car while it was hooked to the tow truck. I told her AGAIN what was relayed on the phone, and she was still like "well, we normally don't wait because 10 minutes turns into 20, and that turns into 40, and people get lost, and..." what, am I going to ride to Detroit?!? it was 7:15 tonight, and getting dark! what a ******* DOUCHE BAG!!!. I'm thinking about taking the ******* to court. She was like "well, i'm part of the police department". protect and SERVE BITCH!!! SERVE BEING THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE LINE *******!!!! ******* hell, SO PISSED OFF!

oh, did i mention that they only had one of my wheels hooked to the tow truck? they were going to tow it WITHOUT BOTH WHEELS HOOKED IN! if they had done it and dropped my 7, both the city of Ann Arbor and the tow company would have been fucked, my brother in law works for the largest law firm on earth, and it would be a huge settlement for towing my car unsafely.

i think i'm done with my rant for now

That is UNBELIEVABLE....

You know that she crossed the line, she needs to be delt with big time.....

I'm not sure if you can put the tow-truck company in court for the damage to your car, I believe you can.... and if so... do it.

The neighbor however..... I'm thinking something dirty.... wait awhile first before you do anything but whatever you do.... make it count!

I'm pissed off from just reading this, you must be losing your mind, dealing with these idiots at the towing company and that neighbor.

**** them up!!

just curious

Dude,

Why didn't you just put the old rotor and stuff back on and then park it in your driveway? This would have negated any problems to start with.

Dude get your Brother in law and take the tow company to the hole. If they try to cut a deal, don't do it. Sadly since I'm young and arrogant (by which I mean stupid) I cut a deal with the tow company that fucked up my datsun 510. And man did I get the shaft. They bent my rear suspension inward (they towed it from the back with out even putting some dummy wheels). As soon as the guy was backing up the car into my house he cut a bad angle and rammed the flat bed into my left rear corner. Boy was I pissed. They sent me to get an estimate which came out to $750, but they only gave me $450. So please do what I'm saying take'm out.

i've lived out in the country my whole life, first time living in the city, and i didn't know that there was an ordinance against having your car parked on the lawn/jacked up on the sidewalk. When i got the call from my buddy that i live with that they were towing my car, i told the meter maid to put my car back on the jack, that i was on my bicycle and i'd be home in 10 minutes, it'd take me 20 tops to put the rotor and wheel back on and move it out of the way, and that i'd pay the ticket/tow guy. they moved it anyway, that's what really pissed me off is that she was impatient and her impatience damaged my car

i live in a house. this isn't the first time she has called the cops us/our friends. one of my friends just stopped by to say hi, and he parked on the wrong side of the street (only parking on one side of the street) (this was about 9:45pm, so they were all done with their rounds), not 5 minutes after he got there as he was about to leave there was a ******* meter maid there sticking a ticket on his windshield.

funny as hell coming from a cop, i was thinking more taking one on the hood of her volvo so she had to wipe it off, not just shovel it off like she could on the front porch. one of the guys i live with suggested a flaming bag of poo on her front porch, a-la billy madison.

i don't think i can take the tow company to court, being as there is no substantial damage, and i signed the tow bill/release (i believe they are one and the same so they **** you when you sign it making it so they're not responsible for any damage). i'll look over the two bill when i get home from work today.

Ok man im afraid I gotta side with ya here. To hell what everyone else thinks. There are times where "A shepard must tend to his sheep" So to speak. The logics is simple even if you are violating certain rules personal property is personal property! Any damage dealt unto said property is unconstituational. You have a right to be safe in your persons, place, or things...... Just because thsi is your first time with city dwelling means nothing to you my friend. The truth is they JACKED YOUR FREAKIN CAR MAN! and in the process of damaged it!!!! Oh man I would be laying the freaking smack down like yesterday! Sick your bro all over thier asses! Rape em for all thier worth. Not only cuz its a 7, but because asswipes have no more excuse to live than oneone else........
DROZMAN hath spoken....and Ill shut up now............

pictures of damage

here is what's visibly damaged, i'll be heading to my grandpa's house to put her up on his hoist to remove the undertray to see if there is any structural damage. that'll be what decides whether or not i take them to court.

Sorry to hear about your troubles man, but if you're going to live in the city you'll have to follow the rules. I never really understood the meaning of this until this past year, when I purchased my first home. Now that I actually own something tangible like this, I find that I really do care about the condition of my neighborhood. I bitch about people throwing trash around, exceeding the speed limit, barking neglected dogs, all that ****. And I'll tell you this much, I'm not investing 1400 dollars a month into this place to have the people living around me turn the neighborhood into a white trash zone. If my neighbor parked his car on the sidewalk to work on it, and ended up leaving it there for a bit too long (whatever the reason) I would probably be over there having a word with him. But I would be nice about it because I can remember that I might have done the same sort of thing not that long ago.

As far as sueing someone, I wish you luck but I think it will be a lost cause. Anything relating to the business of the city, and you might as well bend over and grab your ankles. I let my 240Z sit for a while waiting on repairs (years ago), and the registration ran out by the time I got it fixed because I forgot all about it (apparently). The day I got it running again, I got pulled over by the biggest ***** you've ever met. He was incredibly obnoxious and just an *** in general. It was obvious that this guy was doing this because he had spotted the expired plates earlier and had been waiting for me to drive it again. He just plain out didn't like me. Ticket issued, ticket paid, registration renewed, all within 24 hours. Well, the next day (after issue resolved) my neighbor is pounding on my door to tell me that they are towing my car. I go running out there and sure enough, there's the truck and that same fn cop sob. I'm like wtf, why are they towing it. The cop looks me straight in the eye and says "registration's expired, so it can't be parked on the street". Of course I tell him he'd better take another look, because it has been registered and the plate is right there in front of us with the proper sticker and everything. His response, "oh yeah, didn't see that. Well, since the truck is already here, we're still going to have to tow it unless you pay him the 45 dollar towing fee". Long story short, there was nothing I could do and had to pay it. Pursued it through Internal Affairs and they humored me while they gave me the runaround. Then politely put the boot to my **** and told me to beat it.

Anyway, your situation kinda struck close to home (hence the long reply) so I can understand your frustration. Accept the inevitable fact that they will make you follow the rules in the city, rather than waste your time trying to fight them over it. There are better ways to expend your energies. Good luck with it though, maybe if you've got that lawyer in your pocket you will be able to get something going.

****, I can't stand people who say they have a relative who is a lawyer and that they are going to sue such and such's ***. Dude, you had my sympathy until that point because we have all been there, but then you lost me.

that sucks dude but my question is why did you have it on the sidewalk in the first place.. sidewalks are city property and you cant block it its illegal in almost every city i have ever lived.. thats why you were getting towed.. just like if you work on stuff in the street.. its not your property so you cant work on ****. it sucks i know but believe me.. my old roomates used to get tickets because they would park in our driveway and block the sidewalk.. its a big nono... plus the tow truck companies have nothing better to do than **** people off.. i think its in their contract.

Well, you have to understand that sometimes when somebody complains like that they get nothing but attitude from people. Maybe this lady has had previous dealing with "the kids" living in her neighborhood, and just didn't want to deal with it. Maybe this time she could have just talked the issue through, but who knows, and why should she even care. Maybe it just pissed her off that there was a car torn apart on the sidewalk (for how long?). There are two sides to every story.
