I don't know about the air dams that replace the front bumper assembly, but the Mariah ITS/ITA legal air dam I've prepped for my car took quite a bit of time to make sure it fits well. There was one slight indent on the front bumper of my car smack dab in the middle. I had to remove the whole bumber, take off the skin, take a sawzall to to some modern bumper foam and cut strips to build out over the mazda aluminum stays, heat the skin to mold back on and re-install. Then the dam had to be trimmed, sanded, filled, re-sanded, refilled, wet-sanded, spot-filled, sanded again, again, and again (you get the picture). until a good tight fit was made. In fact, the stock wheel well metal had to be rolled back a slight bit to get a good seal and fit. Front turn signal lenses and covers were removed to make sure the attachment lip blended back (those lips on the dam had to be feathered down to fit right).. All in all it took over 2 weekends just to make sure it would fit well. That IS NOT INCLUDING paint time in the booth. Nor does it consider time to fit the HELLA lights or run wires.
If my car was a track beater and I wanted the dam to be functional ONLY I would have just beat the fenders with a hammer and drilled the dam on with flat head self tapping screws but my car is NOT just for the track.
In my experience if you are going to do it right, take your time and make sure it fits and fits well, don't skimp on prep work and Do the Job Right the First time!.
