Talking I got it!

Hey guys- thanks for the advice.
There were a few things wrong with it, minor things like the door handles stick out when you pull them, and you kind of have to push it back in for the door to latch, but the car drove like a champ, didn't smoke at all, stopped very well and was very clean. The only problem the concerns me is that the steering wheel has about 4 inches of play right/left ,and you can pull the wheel out toward you about 2 inches, kind of like its telescoping out. The car is very drivable with all of the wheel play, but im sure that it is the first thing that needs to be fixed. Anyone have/had this problem?
Also, there was a loud thump from the rear when I went over some bumps, Im sure the shocks are busted. No big deal as the suspension is the first thing I will be upgrading. The last thing that sucks about it is the lights don't pop up by themselves. The motors are fine, but the linkage between the light housing and the motor is disconnected. He showed me the linkages and that the bushings were all worn out and said that once I got new ones, they were no problem to re install. BS or what?

That's it! I'm picking it up at 4 pm tomorrow, I'll clean it up, and take a few pics to post in a few days.

Thanks again for your help - I'm a reg in the 240sx boards, and unfortunately posts like mine was rarely get answered without flames.

Awesome! I've got the same problem with the steering, but it's easy to fix the in/out movement.

For a $1000 , that was a deal, its probally not rusted even either. Heres your flame, California sucks You guys get non rusted cars, that just sucks *** LOL jokie man LOL

Heres the page that tells how to fix the steering wheel http://www.mazspeed.com/steeringgear.htm

Now the pulling in and out of it, is cause the steering rod is a 2 piece design, with plastic clips inside. You have to drill a hole in the column and rivet a rivet in there.. PM directfreak he knows how to do this, when I rebuilt my steering box, I welded them together ...

Awesome- Great link. Thanks.
Not sure if my mechanically-declined self is capable of doing that, but at least I know what to expect now.
I think I can handle the telescoping problem.

Any one in So-Cal? I hear Autotech Motorsports is a great place to go for rx7 work...
