I could really use some help
I really do not like posting anything terribly personal here on the forums. Unfortunately my time is drawing near and I'm terrified. I cleared this post with Robb and I apologize if this offends anyone, as this is in no way, shape or form technical. This place is like a second home to me and I've put many many hours into reading here and helping others. I'm not sure of its appropriate to post here, but I figure I'm going to take a shot in the dark in case anyone is interested. If you aren't, I'm not offended and trust me when I say, I completely understand.
As some of you know, I have been battling end stage renal disease for several years now. I am now officially listed on the kidney transplant list. I am putting this out there with a heartfelt request for a kidney donation. Battling end-stage renal disease for several years has had an impact on my life and the impact it has had on the lives of my loved ones has been immense. As a father of eight, my children are my greatest source of joy and motivation. They are my reason to keep fighting, to never give up. However, the challenges of my health condition have made it increasingly difficult to fulfill my role as a provider and caregiver for my family. The daily struggles and limitations brought on by kidney disease have taken a toll on our lives, both emotionally and financially. In addition to being a dedicated father, I am also a military veteran and proudly served our country for 9 years. I have served as a police officer since 2007, committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Despite the difficulties I face, my passion for serving others remains unwavering. However, I cannot continue to serve to the best of my abilities without the life-saving gift of a kidney. I understand that asking for such a significant donation is a tremendous request, but I firmly believe that the kindness and compassion of individuals like yourself can make a profound difference in the lives of others. Your decision to consider organ donation could not only provide me with a renewed chance at life but also offer hope and inspiration to countless others who may be fighting a similar battle. If you are open to exploring the possibility of becoming a living kidney donor, I would be eternally grateful. The gift of a healthy kidney would not only alleviate the physical burdens I face daily but also grant me the opportunity to continue being a devoted father to my children and contribute to society in a meaningful way. I understand that this is a deeply personal decision, and I respect whatever choice you make. If you have any questions or would like more information about the donation process, I would be more than willing to provide you with any necessary details or connect you with medical professionals who can address your concerns. Here is a photo of the paperwork I was given to hand out and to post reference a potential kidney doner. And again, please feel free to reach out with any questions.
