HAd that happen with my truck and my old apartment complex evan.. It cost me $14 to get my truck back and in the end got everything paid for and refunded.

I filed in small claims court. Talk to your appartment complex 1st though. They had no right to tow it without giving you notice. UNLESS it says specifically in your lease that it would be towed for some reason.

I told him weeks ago to file in small claims court. I doubt that he did anything.

What a gong-show. We have a saying in my circle of friends... "The difference between a stupid person and a REALLY stupid person, is that at least the stupid person will take good advice when it's been given."

I still feel sorry for him because he didn't deserve what he got. But still, at some point you gotta help yourself, esspecially considering that everyone here told him exactly what he should do. Sad situation all-around.

Just for future reference, sometimes a simple call to the attorney generals (a.g.) office, can fix a situation like this very quickly, at no expense. Towing companies have pretty strict rules they have to abide by, due to the fact that they have the ability to steal any car they want. The A.G.'s office has investigation officers that deal with this type of thing on a regular basis. I paid cash for a car last year, from a car lot. We fixed it, painted it, etc.....
Two months later the title still hadn't shown up. Finally they told us that they didn't have it, and couldn't get it, but would take the car back, and give us a full refund of the purchase price. They said they wouldn't pay for any of the work that had been done to the car. I immediately called the attorney generals office, just hoping for some direction. Fourty five minutes later the an investigator called me. He was at the car lot, looked through there files, and said " THEY WILL MAKE IT RIGHT ", and if they didn't by the end of the day, to call him back. Two hours later, we had a full refund, and they transported the car.
It doesn't always require a lawyer, but when it does, you can always find one that will work pro-bono.

The lawyerS, yes, plural, said that I will have my car back, as it was when it left the complex, otherwise, they'll find a way for either the apt complex to settle, or the towing company.

My car WILL be coming home. I don't know when, but I do know that it WILL be coming home.

Good... I'm glad that you took actionand listened to the sound advice that you received here. Make sure that the apt or towing company gets the legal bill, so that you don't...

Why two lawyers?

I can't believe this thread is happening

Now see there....what was so hard about that? Ahh man, I guess you were just messing with us when you said...

"everything has been stripped from it. All I saw was the tender blue metallic body, ON JACKSTANDS.

My wheels are gone... everything is gone, from what I can tell".

Hey if that's the case just think of all the cash or new stuff you'll get when they make it like it was when they towed it.
