I had that same problem only except I needed to replace the oil cooler lines as well. I'm not sure if you need to remove the lines because you're going to replace them or just need to remove the oil cooler, but the way I was able to get them unstuck was by cutting one of the stubborn hoses then placing the oil cooler on the ground to break the stubborn fittings loose.

If your hoses are not going to be replaced, I'd suggest some PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench lubricant. That stuff is good at breaking rusted and stubborn connections free. Or, you might have to take it to a shop.

What is the main reason for removing the lines?

Nice. One thing I do recommend is using Teflon goo, not the tape, on the oil cooler fitting's threads. I've used it to ensure the lines won't get frozen stuck and I have not had one problem with any sort of leak. ^^

oil lines

What diameter and thread are the bosses on the oil cooler? (1979 SA) What size AN hose should be used to connect the SA oil cooler to the 1983 12A oil ports? What size thread are the oil ports on the engine?
