Pics would be great, as I am planning to the same. My hood prop rod is missing, and I was going to adapt the lift shocks, rather than replace the rod.

What kind of strut did you use? Does the hood lift itself relatively easily? Where did you mount it so that it folds properly out of the way? How did you figure out the proper open/close angles so that it would open and close fully?

I'm interested in this in a big way

Oh, and how did you mount it?

I was actually thinking of putting a pair of these on, just for added holding power. My 12 year old son would prefer that I do something, as he is my current prop rod. LOL

actually i just bought a generic $15 unit and mounted it to the left side (only 1 hydraulic needed, plus stock airbox is in the way on the right side on my GSL-SE) strut tower (to one of the shock screws) and the other end to the hood, at the stock hood mount location. no angles etc were figured out, it was actually a fairly simple job. pics should be up monday, me and Maroon93Talon will post them here

that would PwN if you could just pull the hood latch and it would fly open on it's own.

That looks almost exactly like what Greg did a LONG time ago. Not to bash your idea, I mean, its cool, but he did it first, lol.
