Question HUGE cloud of smoke on decelleration...

I was driving my car today, and brought it up to redline in 2nd, then let the engine slow the car down. It started to backfire lots, and then a huge pile of smoke poured out the back... I couldn't even see the car that was on the other side of the smoke, it basically covered both lanes on this street, it was massive... Whats up with that? did some seal let go? it hasn't kept smoking or anything like that after that happened, nor did it seem to loose power........maybe a bunch of carbon burning? I hope, or was that from some thing that rotaries experience when slowing down by using the engine, unburnt gas or soemthing?? I have a straight thru exhaust on my car, not cats, just a pipe and a muffler. I just put this engine in and I'm scared of cooking this 12a too...

High vacuum condition causing oil to be sucked past the (probably worn) oil control rings. Very common.

The smoke was blueish, white. looked like oil.... does this cause damage to my engine? how easily are these rings repaired? Probably not very easy considering that the oil was somehow sucked into engine somehow....
