How are these internals?

Could I use these Parts in a streetport Rebuild? Other than the obvious are these housing and other ok?

I see a little rust on one housing and one broken side seal?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

that's not rust- the coating on the housing is flaking off. You can use it, but if you don't have to, I wouldn't. I was faced with a similar dillema when i rebuilt my engine, except my flaking was much worse so I replaced it. Yours doesn't appear to be too bad so you could use it if you wanted to.

I would replace that rotor housing with the chrome flaking. Once it's flaking that much, it continues to get worse quickly.

Just remember quality of the rebuild directly effects the length of the rebuilds life.

When in doubt replace the part. It's more expensive but it's cheaper than having to tear it all appart and redo it in the near future because of cutting corners this time around.

Looks like there might be some chatter marks too on that housing. Might as well replace it like everyone else mentioned abve.

that housing will run, but it will always be lower on compression than a new housing, it also will not last as long as a new housing.

So what are the chance that the other engine I have thats running is in the same condition?

I further cleaned them And this is what I suggest doing, Use a wire brush to take off a oxidization, and fill with devcon steel; putty . Then smooth it out with fine sandpaper.

it's not going to work, it'll just flake off 10000X faster than the original coating.

I'm sorry i'm being so pessimistic, but it's the truth.

I'll give you 50/50 odds that it doesn't make it through the 1st complete heat cycle and restart without having some damage.

So whats My "BEST" Plan of action? For a higher performance re-build.

Leave it alone hope nothing else happens?

Maybe some heavy grease will carbonize itself into the flaked areas?

Go to a shop that can re-surface that small section? If so what do I ask for?

Cheers

Matt

If your on a budget you could use it but I wouldnt use stuck seals go with carbon or maybe RA or atkins. Use a softer seal.

You are better off using that housing as is rather than trying to "repair" it using Devcon.

you can find a good used one for like $200.

and you can use it, just don't expect it to last for a long time.

What's the point of spending good money on a gasket set as well as hard seals if they're out of spec if you're gonna use a crap housing?
