How Should I Procede?
Hi guys!
I just picked up a beautiful 82' GS that had been sitting in this lady's driveway for about 2 years. She said it had been leaking oil from the cooler, so they parked it. Long story short, this poor car has been sitting for two years with no oil in it. I fixed the leak, but now I am stuck. Is there anything special that I should do before I start this car?
Thanks,
Shane

add oil!
sorry i had to say it.
umm... other than that, you may want to fix the leak on the cooler, flush the coolant, and add new spark plugs.
if you wanted to go ***** out, squirt a half ounce of oil or MMO into the leading plug hole, turn the main pulley once completely, squirt another half ounce, turn the pulley again, and do another squirt. replace the plug and repeat for the other rotor.
...just to make sure the seals are pre-lubed before you try to fire it.

So the engine was bone-dry? That doesn't sound good. Once you've added the proper amount of oil, check to make sure the engine turns over by hand before you try and start it with the key.
There could be a lot of rusted parts in there...
Then again, with a slow leak like an oil cooler, a film of oil may have remained in the engine over all the parts.
