Rediculous emissions drivers

So yesterday I go out to get my emissions tested here in chicago. Im flying there working keeping the cat hot, and while waiting for one car to clear im holding the rpms from 2-3 k to keep it warm.

I pull up and its some old asian dude thats gonna be driving my car. I tell him im sitting passenger and tell him that I just got some work done so be easy on it.

He just says okay no problem. Heres where I thought it would be okay.

The first signs of me not passing was that the guy revved it up to 3 ******* grand to get the car to move.... my mouth just dropped and I was like EASY man. he gets on the rollers and starts my good ol test. I tell him to please be very easy on it and again he says okay. so he BOOSTS it in first gear up to like 4 grand, then hits second gear burns the **** out of my clutch, calmy goes through second, into third, burn again, into 4th, burn again, and into 5th BURN again. now, were at 40 mph in 5th gear ( which is obviously to low a speed for the gear) The guy has to follow the path on the screen and procedes to hit 9psi on my gauge in 5th gear at like 2700 rpms.

At this point I just laughed. the guy proceded to fly into boost many times after that instead of thinking about getting into a more efficient power bad, cuz you know everyone floors it through every gear, and especially 5th at 2k rpms.

anyway, here was my results.

HC CO CO2

STD- .80 15.0 -

mine- 2.04 36.7 508.4

I mean seriously, if the guy had driven ANYWHERE NEAR a decent stick driver, I would have passed with flying colors. but he decided to practically floor it everywhere.

The best part was he came up to me afterwrods in his horrible accent and said.... oh too bad! it failed! im like yeah cuz you ******* floored it idiot.

Has anyone ever been through an experience like that?

Currently outside my car is sitting with under a quarter tank, with one of those gallons being denatured alochohol. I plan on freaking out if my car gets driven like this again, and going straight into there damn offices and raising HELL.

I mean jesus, Hire some damn good people.

What do you all do to make sure emissions are passed?

Yeah I got the same problem but fortunately i dont take my car to emmissions... Just wait untill the state suspends your plates and then "sell" you car to your brother or uncle for a dollar and you got another two years of getting notices and warnings untill they'll suspend it again. I am eventually ganna go to kankakee, which is outside the emmisions zone, and purchase a PO Box to use as my adress. You can try doin that if you want and then you wont have to worry about anything.

Been there, done that. Same problem. I finally went to a different emissions station and got this Indian guy as a driver. He patiently listened to my pleas, and when I sait keep it out of boost (I had to explain that and show him the needle) and hw did amazing. He just lug'ed the car to speed and it fast-passed. I'm convinced these tests are 80% driver when it comes to a manual trans.

I've never done an emission test, but If the problem is while boosting, why dont you just disconnect one of the intake pipes so the boost will never reach the engine. That way the engine is burning very little fuel. Just an idea.

actually that would make it worse if im not mistaken. The throttle is still being used, so its still increasing the fuel when the throttle body butterflies are opened. It might not be as much because the map sensor is detecting no boost, but doesnt it still put the fuel in like the boost was there? If it does, you have an even richer condition.

Oh, so the engine can suck in unfiltered air? Bad idea. Smogging the car without boosting simply involves someone with half a brain cell driving the car.....

Heh...I went to the one near A-Spec on Fullerton. Some young kid...probably 19 or 20. Took it really easy, though he did stall it. Forgot to tell him about the clutch. Anyway...passed without any alcohol.

Hey don't feel bad, I failed really bad too, and with the
mods i have, it would never have passed.

So I "Moved" the car to boone county (my buddies
house in belividere). So no more emissions!

And before I moved it . .. I avoided emissions for 1.5 yrs.

yeah the first time i took mine to the emissions place, the jackass had no idea what he was doing, and just like u said, floored it in 5th @ 2000rpms....the standard for HC was like .08 (madison county, IL BLOWS!!) mine came back with a 2.73 i then proceeded to take it to this mechanics shop who had "passed" 41 of 41 failed cars. Charged me $150 for a Bosch O2 sensor and install...but im pretty sure $100 of that went to the emissions guy to accidently test a civic in my place....i had .01 on HC the next time with a high flow cat and dp ...down from 2.73 with both stock cats....ROFL

I went into the office and it went a littel like this.

Hi,

Lady : hi

me : Well I failled horribly, due to the fact that your driver out there basically cannot drive stick, and was flooring my car.

:her: our drivers are trained and know how to drive stick, and I guarentee you they follow real world driving like situations.

me: Well, from the smell of burning clutch in my car, I beg to differ. Also, since when does everyone floor there car around everywhere?

her: Im sorry sir, there is nothing we can do....

At that poitn I just walked out and said **** it.

The next day I went and got two gallons of alchohol, went to a different station, had a real cool guy drive my car nicely. And passed.
