I love ricers!

So i was driving to NAPA to order a ball-hone for some honda motors i'm building, and as i'm driving along minding my own business this older prelude pulls up next to me and starts reving at me like an idiot! I play it cool 'cause i just saw a cop in a nearby parking lot and point out to him that there is a cop and he says " I'll never get busted!" and procedes to take off like an idiot! The cop whips out of his hiding place, pulls over the primer white/black/gray car w/ wing and underglow (its bad enough to have it, but to have it on during the day!?), writes him some tickets and sends him away. I know about the tickets because he pulled into NAPA as i was getting in my car to leave and procedes to rev it up, shut it off and starts talking to me about how he's a hardcore street racer and that i should join his car club. I gently decline his offer saying that i'm scared to drive fast and that this car is my brothers. He says "thats cool 'cause that car couldn't touch this anyways because I just ordered a stage 3 nitrous kit and a stage 3 turbo kit just to make sure the nitrous spools up as fast as possible." Then he tells me he's a future performance shop owner and he's going to have a bunch of different styles of mufflers and custom intakes. He says "thats where all the performance is in these cars." " of course." i say " but i have to get going now so we can glue the stage 2 wing back on to this car." He says " man! after that the car is going to launch sick as hell off the line!" i told him that's why we're doing it and got in my car and left laughing my *** off.

Sorry for the story but i had to tell someone!

wow,

"spool up the nitrous"

IF people like that try to open up "performance shops" I should try and get into that business.

So, is there an upgrade kit for a stage 1 to stage 2 wing, or is it a whole new install?
What a retard.

This is all I would've said: -Nods in agreement to everything he says- " Sooo...you probably get mad amounts of wicked oversteer going through corners with all that power, huh? Bitch PUH-leeez! Shut up before you strain something..."

Nah, actually I usually 'kindly' correct people when they talk **** about stuff they don't even know jack about... Then again... almost no ricer will look me in the eye, before or after whooping their ***..

For example, last weekend I was stopped at a light coming off the Chamblee-Tucker exit from I-85. This preppy little girl pulls up next to me in an old (Flat lights) civic hatch with a front body kit half falling off...and...if you can stand it... PAINTED HEADLIGHTS meant to look like the projector type.. No exhaust on the car at all, so it was sounding like a bug hitting the zapper. She's bouncing to her techno crap and revs her engine at me. I shook my head, and when the light turned green, I was ******* goooooone. Now..I drive an N/A GXL with a lightweight flywheel being the major upgrade... I shifted at 4- 4.5 grand and completely kicked her ***. It was increasingly amusing because at the next light where I was stopped, she pulls up next to me with her middle finger sticking straight up but she wasn't even looking at me, and her music was off.

Did I ruin her day or something?

Edit: I'm so glad I turned my brother into an Air-Cooled VW fanatic, because he would've ended up a ricer if I'd given him the go-ahead on the CRX he made me inspect for him.

I understand...... Ignorance is a plague........

Similar story:

In Autozone picking up some new plugs and I hear an individual talking to the parts clerk.
Guy: Do you have any performance parts
Clerk: Uh...what ya looking for?
Guy: I don't know,..... what do you have here?
Clerk: Well, most parts we have to order but we have some stuff at the store
Guy: Yeah....See that Accord out there.... I'm going to make it an 11 sec. car.

At that point I had already payed for my plugs and was on my way out the door.....

Honestly man..... with every sport, interest, or hobby there are people that don't get it and probably never will. I have seen individuals ready to fight because they got beat in a simple 0-60 race to the next light.

Man an 11 second accord. I had a friend who had a turbo crx that was done up pretty decently, with his trap speed he should have been doing 13's, but couldn't get past mid 14's because of wheel spin. Heh. Needed grippier tires, I guess.

He got pissed because he couldn't break into the 13's, ended up tearing the engine out, rebuilding it, buying all new turbo parts, and bought an S13 as well. Ridiculous if you ask me. Its straight line. I understand the adrenaline rush of it, but I get a lot more of a rush in the twisties in my car than he got doing a straight line with that car.

My buddy did his Civic the right way....
All the money went under the hood, nothing went on the outside. The car is a huge sleeper, except for the intercooler sticking out up front.
B18C punched out to 2.0L with Darton floating sleeves, built by Benson's Machine.
Eagle crank,Carillo rods,Arias pistons,Spoon oilpump,everything balanced/blueprinted.
Hondata ECU,MSD,Skunk intake manifold,
Light flywheel, stage 3 clutch and 1000HP capacity Driveline Shop axles.
Greddy turbo(TDO6,I believe),soon to be replaced with a GT35 ballbearing unit.Current boost level is about 14psi,but you can just feel that the engine wants to make more, the turbo is just out of steam.Benson estimated the engine could make 500-600 crank HP with no stress issues, except for getting the head to flow well enough. At this point,it still passes smog and gets pretty good gas milage.
This car is brutal to drive, the thing sucks your eyeballs into the back of your head!I can see why people want to pump these cars up.....With the right parts and some money, they make for very powerful, yet reliable and somewhat efficient cars. His setup has been totally bulletproof for years now,and its not much trouble to drive quickly. In a hard turn,it actually goes into a pretty controllable 4 wheel slide, since the front tires will break traction easily, and the rear tires arent as grippy or loaded up.Straight line traction is actually pretty good since he installed tension struts and he runs sticky DOT tires up front.

you want to know something sad, the worst ricer in my town drives an rx7, but atelast its a second gen i wont go big into but ill give you a few examples from this guy.

i killed his *** with my old car(84 GS with header). he told me his air filter was completely clogged. so we raced again after he got his "chip," killed him just as bad.

thats nothing, listen to the stories he tells people. ones, he said he did a wheelie on his hybusa from our town to the next, doesnt have a motorcycle at all. he said he heard his air filter was loose in his second gen so he climbed out the window while going down the highway and raised the hood an tightened it. he said he jumped a car hauler in his rx7. he has told me he owns a third gen but he cant drive it because the blow off valves are shooting oil into each other. he swore a rotary could run for 3k miles with no oil(i told him to test that one out for me).

i heard hes trying to get into the drift scene. the other night i ws on my way to work and i see a second gen coming up behind me and i know it was to be him. when he gets close enough i see he has tape in a X on his headlights for that badass JDM drift look.

oh yeah, his car is an 87 or so GXL with mufflers, wheels, and a take T2 scoop.

Reminds me of someone I used to know. He bought a T2 to build. After he figured out that you just can't start bolting on parts and you actually have to do some research; he said rotaries are crap, and bolted a Mustang 5.0 in it. All he could talk about was how it was just too fast.....the thing might have ran a 13. Car ended up with a electrical fire. Of course, the garage it was parked next to caught on fire, and that is what caught the car on fire......but just around the engine......

It is really a matter of personality. Doesn't matter if the guy is fishing, hunting, driving cars, or riding motorcycles. There is always some people that can't get enough attention so they will tell wild stories, make up impossible events, and drive the flashiest carnival on wheels possible that can outrun any one else in their associated peer group.

Steer clear of these people. They ususally end up in jail, dead, or killing someone else.

But, do we really gotta "love" the ricers? Maybe tolerate? Ha, anyways, closest thing I had with a ricer was when I was traveling 28 North. Now, there's some mild traffic on the road, so why this guy thought it was a good idea, is beyond me. All I know is that he was obviously retarded. Anyways, I saw his car, which was a 1996 Mitsubishi Eclipse convertible, first because he was in the lane to the right of me, and he was further ahead at the time. So, I saw what he had: a coffee can sized muffler. He might've had an air filter on it, but not like that's going to do anything for him. Now, anyways, traffic shifts to where he's behind me, still in the lane to my right. Now, I'm just minding my own business, on my way to Olympus to get some parts, when I notice out of the corner of my eye that he's now beside me and looking at me. Alright. Let me paint the picture. His car was stock, obviously, except for that pathetic exhaust muffler. He might've had the cat-back and an air filter but so what? He looked to be at least 230. He had another passenger in his car. He looked to be about the same weight. I could garner this by the brief glimpse I gave them to see why he was now beside me. Now, we all know how heavy the Eclipse is, especially as a convertible. And, we all know that the engine in the Eclipse is weak to begin with. We also know that weight kills. So, the weight of the vert Eclipse is already a negative. Add in the fact of two big teenagers in it, and you have one big rock on wheels. I'm a lightweight. A big plus in an already lightweight car. I just look back ahead, rev-match the motor as I shift into 3rd gear and take off. He didn't even have a chance. Too bad there was traffic all around so I only had a short sprint but I made it known that he was a fool. As I got near my exit, I just stuck my hand out and gave a thumbs up sign. I don't know why, maybe because I was still in a good mood and didn't care. But, now that I look back on it, I felt that I shouldn't. Should've just nailed it and left him behind and forget about him. It's people like that that make you wonder why they're allowed to drive.

And, ditto on them just being loud as a bad attempt to gain attention. Ugh.

I got a look into the mind of a ricer the other day. My brother is really into Hondas, and has a clean one himself, but to make money he is always doing little things for less knowledgable kids. Putting in lowering springs, exhausts, intakes, stuff like that, so we always have idiots over at my house. And I made the mistake the other night of going out into the garage to get a soda while he was with one of these guys. So the guy starts asking questions about the Rx, and I'm just trying to get back inside. The thing that finally just made me ignore him and go back inside was he said, "yeah, its a nice car, you just don't have money for a body kit yet do you?"

My brother is much more bold about it though, in the most sarcastic voice he can do he yells at people in traffic, "Hey! Hella tight car man! Hella VTEC!" And then just gives them a thumb down. He hasn't gotten stabbed yet so I assume he's being smart about it.

and +1 on there always being the guy that has to make stuff up because he'll never get it.

im with clbsinvaders! here in my little town Camaros, Mustangs, Grand Prixs, Grand Ams, Firebirds, and every other automatic car in the lot is "So fast!" lol. Noone believed me when i said my car was kinda fast untill i started doin pulls down main street and smoking everyone and playing with them while I was doing it. Most kids dont even think about it now. A kid with a mustang always seems to "have problems" when I waste his pos. Then we have 3 caviliers all stock with body kits lmao or a ford focus that yellow with a white body kit and rims that I could almost keep up with IN MY SUZUKI SAMURAI!!! lol I just don't get some people. The number of kids who crash there Grand Am or Grand Prix or Mustang or Camaro cuz they were taking a turn to fast and the POS can't handle it is crazy in this town. Or you have the "Drifters" who think they are a the **** untill they hit a curb and **** there axle up! I like drifting but not when dumb little kids are doing it! Stupid people just amaze me somtimes!
