That was cool. I like how all the seals are applied by hand because you need to feel the correct seating. Just amazing actually how much is done by hand.

Very nice find. That was really interesting on the actual procedure. Yeah it was the 13B out of the RX8. You can tell by the plastic on the intake manifold

Why?

This is basic Rotary information that applies to all Rotary engines. It gives members a better understanding of the internal workings of the engine.

I believe that because it is not of a 1st gen engine that he wanted it moved.
But in this case like I stated it pertains to all gens and is good info.

That composite molding process for the housings, ingenious. I'd have thought they could get away without fitting the seals by hand by now, but I guess they still haven't figured out the "feel" in numbers a computer can take yet.

Anyone know why they'd need a 5-axis grinder for the trochoid? It looked like they could do it with a 2-axis.

In another section there was something interesting. When first developing the racing 13b, they discovered that it was producing a gyroscopic effect that was adversely affecting the handling. Interesting...

Sounds like a heavy flywheel, like all the early engines had. I'm talking about 30 pounds + heavy 13B rotors = interesting effects.
