how to remove the lock on my door

So I need the keycode from the lock so my dealership can cut me a new key, they don't have the # on file. So I have the interior panel off but don't see how to get to the locking mechanism off from the lever. Anyone?

Okay I found it, there's a clip on the inside of the door that holds the key mechinism taut. you can remove it with a pair if needle nose pliers

Nope, the team who assembled my car in 84, didn't jot down the keycode # so as far as Mazda see's it's 00000000 which does them no good.

Damn man, I wonder if SA ignition switches could work on FB's... I have a spare Ignition switch with key over here if you need it.

Hmm they are both 1st Gens, so would it be over simplistic to say that would have interchangable parts?

good luck. I lost my keys last fall, and it had my original on it (I was PISSED). I tried to get a key copied over spring break with my spare, but no one carried the blanks. Then, to top it all off, my parents called me one day saying "where are the keys to your mazda?" umm...hanging on the key rack in the laundry room. their only response was "****." $80 later and one traveling locksmith going "you freaking idiots" when he found my key in the ignition after cutting a new key, I was back to square 1, with 2 keys for my 7

lock removal

It is easier to remove the hatch lock and so long as no one has changed out the ignition lock the key should be the same for all locks on the car.
