1983 Mazda rx7 great car

how much should I pay for it?

I still have not talked to the guy yet but I know it runs and drives I have seen it first hand right next to me during the summer time. but what should be the absolute minimum I should offer for it?

also ses it only has like 86000 miles on it so.

ps this would be my very first of any first generations so im not really sure on how much they normally go for in this kind of condition.

ty for any feedback thx

I thought you were Buying a hooker..

The car though..hmm.
If it checks out to your needs then go back with cash.
Tell him you have cash..Offer him 8 and go from there. You got lots of cushion to play with there.

If he refuses cash then he's an idiot.

Three pictures won't tell you very much, but it looks a little rough around the edges; I noticed a rear side marker broken apart, the DS windshield wiper isn't straight (bent rack?), and obviously that DS front fender needs some paint. The interior also looks a little worn, as there's something up with those seats, but as you've stated - and the seller states - if it's a true 86k mi car (check the speedo and make sure the ODO works!), and you're willing to put some time and effort into it, then start low and work your way up.

Mr. blackdog above has good advice, and anyone looking to unload it will go a lot lower if you're holding crisp new $100 bills in your hand while you're talking. Also, put $600 in one pocket and $200 in several other pockets and go with the "... but I only have $600 with me in cash." and see what happens. If you can get him to settle on a price, remember that he wants it gone and you want a 1st gen. I would go $600 on that car, but only if it's in good running order and he has receipts for regular engine maintenance. It's not worth $600 in parts, because you still need to register/insure/inspect/emission and that comes out of your pocket, obviously.

Good luck,

I'd offer him $100.00 over what a scrap yard would give him. Probably about $500.00 cash.

Good advice in here.

I'd want to know why it has a replacement fender. If this car took a hit in the front it could have moved the strut tower/box structures on that side. It doesn't take a big hit to do that either. Also, if it was hit, what repairs were done beyond the fender.

If the car is bent, it is not worth much

Also check for rust where the upper rear control arm connects to the chassis. A little rust is normal and the repair is not bad.

Find a parts car, your going to need it. Then deduct the price of the parts car from his $1200 and make it your final offer. So if you find a parts car for $500, offer him $700.
