how much money is my 79 worth? (pics)

so what do you guys think? It's a stock gs, except for an rb exhaust (which had to be replaced because the old one was rusted out) and 79 le wheels. Also, the oil cooler was converted to a beehive one because the front mount was rusted out too. (used to be a lotta rust on the car- not anymore)

Now I don't want to sell it, I was just wondering how much money it's worth after I fixed it all up. Also, I was planning on modding it, but it looks so good stock, i don't want to touch it. Might get an fb beater for that. I hear they're going to apretiate in value someday soon.

(yes, i have the molding, it's just not on yet)

My God that thing is nice. I can't ansewer your question but I just picked up a Silver '79 and I'm hoping mine turns out that nice. I have allot a surface cancer in the inside and someone has already "fixed" the wheel wells. Thanks for the insperation!! I've just spent the last two days gutting the sound deadning material out, and I need to see what I'm working for, THANKS

they are going up already, If you watch ebay running decent FBs are goin to $1500+ very quickly. the way yours looks, if it runs perfect, Ide be willing to give you $2000, assuming it was in very good, drive it everyday/across the country no hesitation, condition.

You should be able to get $4000 for that. Here in Canada, most FB's are going for more than $3500 canadian (about $2000 american). A GSL-SE or very good condition GSL can get more than $5000. I've seen a very nice '79 go for $6000 canadian.

I'm not sure what '79 LE wheels are. I was 6th on the original waiting list at Bruce McGrath Pontiac/Mazda in Cedar Rapids in 1978, and bought the 2nd one they ever sold, and I'm pretty sure that in the '79 model year there was an S model and a GS model, but not an LE.

Just a little nitpicking...nice car! I've often wondered what my car was worth also. I'm not interested in selling it any time soon, but it would be nice to know what it's worth. I paid right at $7,000, everything included, on May 25th, 1978.

there was a 79 Limited.

it had special wheels a different dash cluster, and some other odd stuff.

3K were made.

With the nice paint I would say 2K to 2.5K, A little more if it had a nice black interior and glass sunroof. Add from there for updated suspention and brakes. and if the engine is low miles.

the burgundy Interiror degrades at a much faster pace then any of the others. they are hard to find replacements for and generaly look bad and the black interior just looks the best to me.

Never seen anyone on here change a black interor to a different color but pleanty change from whatever to black.

With all the trim attached, I would probably go for as much as... i don't know, like $4000 if I had $4000 to just throw around, but I love SA's.

Don't worry- i would never sell it. never. not even if i could trade it in for a fd. (although i do want an fd someday) i put too much money and time into to just sell it. i love it. did i say i love it? Also, i love it.

btw, i love it

I don't blame you. As I said above, I bought mine new over 27 years ago, have babied it ever since (52,xx miles), and wouldn't be able to bring myself to sell it. I've been thinking about selling my award winning 1964 MGB that I did a complete restore on, but I can't sell the 7. Hang onto yours!

Rich, keep the 'B! Life's too short not to have a convertible - especially a British one-
I paid $4100 for my 2 owner 80 SA with 64K miles. Would pay that again in a heart-beat
Looks like your on your way to converting your interior to Black, since it looks like you already have done the lower dash..?

More than likely I will keep it Stu!
I don't know if all SA's had two tone dashes, but mine does.

no, i'm not converting my interior black. The bottom is just a little darker than the rest of the dash.

64mgb- did that dash come like that from the factory? that is really weird. its orange!

Yea, it's all original. It's not as orange as the pictures make it look. Trust me, it looks ok.

Thanks, but it's actually sonic bronze metallic. I'm not sure why the camera makes it look so orange. This picture:

is probably the most accurate.

For some reason, you having never sold your 7 and being the original owner makes me very happy. I would have a really hard time selling my '83 GSL Targa, even though I've spent more money in repairs than what I paid for it in the year and a half I have owned it.
