2 men can EASILY move around a longblock unless your napolean dynamite lookin *************
id say a long block is close to 250
A long block (entire engine, just missing transmission) can be carried by two men. Maybe it takes 3 sissy metrosexuals, but 2 men is plenty. Hell, you can't even get 2 people on it... it's too small.
I'll guess higher than everybody else, because I can't quite pick one up alone, and I'll say it's 225-250, longblock (ready to run). I've got a dummy engine (no internals) that I can pick up by myself, but it's still a heavy sonuvabitch. It probably weighs 100-150.

I moved one last year and 3 guys could easely pick it up, move it, and put it in a truck.
According to someone here,
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ht=block+short
Atkins says the shipping weight is 200.
I'm able to pick up a short block 12A without flywheel off a workbench and almost get it too the ground. Its just too awkward to get it all the way down, but I can pick it up myself and move it from bench to bench if needed. I would guess a shortblock 12A would weigh in at 160-170 lbs.
2 dudes to load a bare motor into a truck. i can hobble a bare motor around the garage myself, but not very well.
i'd guess a 13b to weigh almost 200 and a fully assembled s4 engine probably weighs around 250.

My 13bt longblock with everything on it, a/c, pwr steering, etc, weighed 340lbs, have a shipping receit stating that it weighs that much. Thats with the turbo tranny attached

I removed a complete 13b out of my 90 GTU. Since no-one was around, I pulled it out, balanced it on the front support, stepped over the front end, heave ho and set it on the ground. That's one of the dumbest lifts I've ever done, but at least I can say I've done it!!
I can carry a long block 12a. I picked it up off a chainfall, and carried it about 15 feet to a truck. That'll be the last time I plan on that. That **** is heavy, but it's manageable.
The problem with these engines is that the weight is in such a small, awkward package. Its hard to handle. But as long as you strip the block down while its in the engine bay and detach it from the tranny, two guys with a long 4x4 can lift it out easily. Thats how I got my 12A out. I weighed my disassembled 12A minus 1 rotor and housing and the front cover and it turned out to be 140 lbs. Thats all the small internals (counterweights, oil pump, oil pickup, that kinda thing), all 3 irons, 1 rotor, 1 rotor housing, oil pan, all tension bolts, and all other misc bolts. I figure each rotor and housing combo weighs in at 20-25 lbs and the front cover 5 lbs. Add that to the 140 and you get 165-170.

This makes me NOT want to take an old rotor, paint it gold and hang it by a gold chain from my neck.
One other guy (HadAGSL-SE) and I picked up a shortblock 13B fairly easily... And I'm a small dude.

I picked up my S4 shortblock, with flywheel and clutch, from the back of my van and across the yard. It took me and my dad to jocky it around to get it on the engine stand, on the porch. Oh, and dont pick it up by the clutch, it'll cut the **** out of your hand, did it twice.
Cant be that heavy,Ive pulled four junkyard engines out by hand,by myself and Im only 6'1" and 170lbs soaking wet.
2 were 12A with no manifolds but with flywheel attached.
2 were 13B with intake manifolds and flywheel attached.
Just stand on the strut towers, grasp the oilfilter base and waterpump snout, and lift/wiggle.I just set them on the radiator support, then roll them unceremoniously into a wheelbarrow.Id guess between 160-190lbs.....
Heh,heh....when I got my Samurai,I was able to pull out and THROW the stock aluminum 1.3L four banger!!...what a joke! The 2.8L V-6 that went in its place must have been 3-4 hundred pounds.
