More important: Clutch Disc or Pressure Plate?

More important: Clutch Disc or Pressure Plate?

Hey guys,

I lost my rear oil seal and had oil soak my clutch last year. I had replaced the clutch the year before with an OEM exedy clutch kit. I'm in the process of streetporting the current engine and adding a weber 48 IDA. My question is do i need a Heavy Duty Pressure plate, or will I be able to run the fairly new OEM pressure plate and a Performace Clutch Disc. Which part make the bigger difference in performance, the disc or pressure plate. Thanks, Matt

On a side note, If i were to just buy a clutch disc, what is the fan favorite, without spending too much money, it'll be a daily driver. I was looking at the racingbeat HD disc. Let me know.

hd pressure plate and a stock disk for good driveability....

What happens when you lose an oil seal? I understand that the car malfunctions but what should you be looking for to diagnose this problem? Also, what oil seal is this and what does it do? Does it keep the oil in the engine from getting out or does it keep the gear oil in the transmission where it's supposed to be?

There is a rear main engine oil seal and an input shaft seal on the tranny. One leaks motor oil, the other gear lube. Usually the clutch disc must be replaced due to oil soaking and cannot be removed from the friction media. The flywheel will need turned if it is burnt from the clutch slipping. The pressure plate may or may not need to be replaced, depends on how the surface looks, If it is galled or badly burnt, replace it.

I found a good deal for a used centerforce Dual Friction Clutch, with 10,000 miles. I have read mixed reviews about this product, is it worth buying this clutch, or would i just be wasting my time
