How much Clutch fork slop?

I have noticed a metal clicking sound coming from the slave cylinder when the clutch is depressed whether or not engine is running. When I inspected the pushrod and fork, it seems that both move forward to back and side to side. Is there supposed to be play like that in those two components? I am concered because my new complete clutch kit is making bearing noise with the clutch pedal in after only 1k mi. Is it possible a loose clutch fork could kill the throwout bearing?

Thanks
