I'm assuming it's blow through, since he's talking about running an intercooler. I run 10psi on my rebuilt and ported 12a. I hear that's a pretty good level. Some say 14psi is fine though, but I would suggest you have a rebuilt motor, maybe with some oil modifications, higher psi regulator, higher flow oil pump, and def go over to a air/oil oil cooler since your car came with the beehive oil cooler stock.

The simplest answer, until they pop. Then you start over with a fresh motor and learn to tune from there. I've seen psi numbers as high as 28-32, by guys that have been doing boosted rotary for years, and know how to do it.

10-14 psi is generally a decent number, depending on turbo, intercooling and maybe even water/alcohol injection. These numbers should be worked up to, not used as a starting point. 6-8 psi to begin with, then work up from there with tuning.

Just out of curiousity, for those of you with a boosted 12A how much power do you see? Is it comparable to a 13B, sorry for the thread-jack.... J/W...

wouldnt more than 10psi on a carb be hard on it? i was also toying with the idea of instead of doing my t2 engine swap, just building my 12a and throwing a turbo on it. not tryin to thread hijack, but what all would need to be done? already have a mikuni carb, and plan on rebuilding and porting the 12a. gotta have a car hat and manifold and turbo of course... so what else?

21psi is the max a 12a can take...im not going it say it will take it for very long but it can handle 21psi...that is the max with a very good tune

On what basis can you make a blanket statement like that? There are way too many variables... type of fuel, size of turbo, intercooler efficiency, quality of the tune, etc.

the question was "how much boost can a stock 12a handle" and i know of ppl that have run 21psi. zac(FBII) on his old set up had run 21psi a few times but it never blew when he was runing that much boost... but the motor will not last a long time

i know a rotary building in FL that told me the same thing. He didint say how long it would last but he did say it could handle it..than i had 1st hand of 21psi with zac's car hitting 21psi....

that is what i basis my statement on..

21psi with one turbo will be totally different to 21psi on another turbo. A stock TII will be well out of it's efficiency range at that point so it will be heating the air up a lot which also increases the chance of detonation. Whereas a larger turbo designed to run at that sort of pressure ratio will put less thermal stress on the engine.

The point I'm making is, you can't say a certain engine will handle x ammount of boost pressure because it depends on the exact setup.
