This is for the old guys our there, you know who you are, my wife doesn't get the 7 thing at all.

How old are you and what ***** do you get for owning a 7 at your age.

I'm 43...and she will either learn to live with the 7s or she wont, but I'm keeping my 7s.

LOL, what makes you think they will ever understand us anyway Steve.

I was in puberty before you were walking, that's all I wil say. Bob Holton, really funny guy, is 75 and loves smoking the Honda kids at the light.

It's a guy thing, it's a car thing, it's an extension of personality thing. Maybe we are all trying to remain quick, nimble and unique, even if the bones tell us otherwise.

I'm 54 and owned an RX-7 since 1980. The first one I kept 24 years and only sold it because my 16 year old son thought he should have it. I couldn't give a sports car to a new driver. I sold it to a guy in Dallas and it was still immaculate. I would like to see it now, it was copper color. Meanwhile I bought an FD and my sons got older. Now one has an 85 with a ported 13b and the other an 85 GSL-SE. I just finished up building a 91 for my everday car. I love 7s and so do my sons - my wife's opinion? My older son just emailed a picture what is supposed to be out in 2007 ( A NEW SEVEN ).

If you define "old guys" as people with a reasonable command of english and can express a thought without swearing, I guess that would include me. However, my goals still include doing the Runoffs in my RX7 E prod car and getting back to Kansas for the Solo II Nationals, so you are as young as you want to be.

47 years old, on my seventh or so RX7. Currently have two, an 85 street car and an 81 race car. Have my eye on another one, but need additional parking first.

My wife gets it. She used to race with me and was damn good - as fast as anybody. These days she no longer gets in the car much, but does tolerate my addiction. I don't drink heavily, hang out in bars, or chase women, and she knows where to find me most of the time - in the garage!

I really don't catch much flak, people know me well and know not to take crack away from an addict

Plus I look 25 so it makes it a little easier, the ricers here know when to bow down to the true playa in town....

You guys are making me feel young. I'm only 37. One of my favorite things about my '85 GSL-SE is that it was new when I got my driver's license at 16; It was a new car when I was new to cars, and it's the car I would have liked to have had then, instead of that '76 Plymouth Fury I inherited. My car is not "vintage", it's contemporary...to me.

Now, I'm interested to know if you brought her over here or met her here. Because I would assume that if you brought her over she would be more "Rotary Inclined" since the Aussie's are badass like that.

I will be 47 in about three weeks and have being playing with rotaries since the late 70s. My first rotary was a 76 RX4 and have had just about one of each since. I currently have to SEs, one a daily driver and the other a project. My wife drives the daily from time to time and she loves it too.

why would you now let your son drive a seven as a new driver, this is my first car (Im 17) bought it when i was 15, and i have no problems, but then again my mom is pretty much the only reason why the 350 hasnt been dropped into it because of the light car and speeds it will produce, but my dad is the one making the thing for me, we just got a 400 turbo trans, if i dont go threw with doing this im making a nice little el camino.

my parents do not trust me driving there 67 chevelle cause its making over 400 hp, but they said if i did some drag racing with my school (at the track) and getting a better feel for muscle cars i can use it this spring threw summer

I hope your son will get a 7 and have the same passion for them as us, i know this is my 1st car but i really dont want to leave it, the only thing i would do is get a FC

I'm 47 and have owned my '81 since new (November '80). I will never give it up. My ex wife (now gone) never understood my ties to the car. I think she was jealous. My gf has no issues, she loves riding in it with me (although she has been bugging me if I will let her drive it. That may take some doing as I still remember how my ex treated it when she drove it).

I lost my car for a while (stolen while I lived in NJ) and it is now somewhat the worse for wear. It still puts a smile on my face when I drive it. Restoration will start once I get moved into my new house with garage, and can start taking care of the rust.

Today is my 71st birthday, I just don't feel old yet. The secret is to drive a Gen 1 and have a young wife.

I just turned 40 in april,.....so i guess "i'm not getting any younger".
Two years ago my wife bought me a very clean 1983 GSL. It had been a 15 year dry spell since i last slipped behind the wheel and heard that sweet wankel reving.
Like she said "You always talked about getting another rx7 ever since i first met you"
What can i say, i am truely blessed to have married a very understanding woman that appreciates and encourges my passions in life.

(secretly i think she really loves the lines of that beautiful 1st gen)

Wow! Finally someone before me has me beat in age. I turned 60 last October, and have had my 82 GSL since, well, 82! Haven't driven it much over the past few years. My main ride is an 05 Tundra double cab. What a difference between the two, size wise and driving. The 7 is still the the most fun ride I've ever owned. I was going to get rid of it but just decided to keep it and get it back into tip top shape. The other half can't object 'cause I had the car before we were together.

Naw she's a local, her idea of a cool car is a twin cab Dodge truck, so she can drive to the mall and carry a few bags of groceries in comfort....lol

We met online before the inevidible questions start...

Paul Fitz, I knew you were a font of all things rotary, but crikey, you really are the king of old skool. Happy Birthday and we have to crack a bottle of red sometime.

We should have a FROG meet sometime....
