Tighten the steering box adjustment screw or install a new steering box

Tightening up the steering system is done in this order, ONLY.

Check/Replace: Idler arm, tie rods and adjusting sleeves, ball joints, pitman arm, wheel bearings. After all those components are confirmed good or replaced, then adjust/replace the steering sector, not/never before.

If the other components are worn/loose and one attempts to take the steering slop out by adjusting the sector only, it is usually over adjusted and that will cause binding and accelerated wear of the sector. Been there, done that. Replacing all of the other steering components is 1/2 the price of a new sector.

dont tighten the nut on the steering rack too tight (the one you need to use a hammer and chisel on), I think that is the one that made my steering wheel űber stiff.
