How hard is it to...

Change out a clutch master cylinder. To my knowledge it appears to simply be 2 bolts, and a hard line from the master to slave cylinder and then bleeding the system. Is is all that simple? If anyone could give me details I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Chris

Talking thats about it

just did my gen2 clutch slave,it was pretty e-z. If u look at it before u rip it all apart,u'll c its a fairly simple job, just make sure u attach a hose or line of some sort to the bleed screw and stick it in a bottle or something so u dont ruin ur paint w/that brake fluid. When u replace the fluid u need 2 ppl 1 to pour 1 to pump, keep that hose in the bottle let ur friend pump out the old fluid as u pour in new fluid, when its all new fluid in there, your done. check the pedal bleed again if necessary

So there is no trick to attaching the hard line to the master cylinder? That was where I was thinking I would have the most problem.

I just replaced both the master and slave last night. The problem childs will be the bolt above the clutch pedal inside of the car on the firewall(small amount of room) and the the slave is surrounded by all the hoses. Becareful with the hard line between the the master and the slaves rubber line. (but if you break it go to autozone for 5 bucks and get a hard break line and they or you can bend it into shape). It's one of the best things I did for my car. Make sure you cover painted areas the fluid will eat it alive.

yeah it is easy, just remember to loosen the line before you loosen the mounting bolts. snug the line onto the new M.C. before you bolt it back in. This will prvent you from stripping the threads. Jason
