how to get a belt on

yah, i know it is a stupid question. but right now i cannot figure it out.. i just put my air pump back on, for smog, and now need to put the belt on. i can get it around the water pump and air pump pullies, but cannot seem to see a way to get it on the crank (fan) pully without taking the fan off first.

any suggestions

You answered your own question: You have to take the fan blades off to put the belt on...4 x 10mm bolts to take it off...

first put the smaller end thru the first loop. then the second and so on until it comes back to the front. insert the small end thru the d and pull it until the desired tightness is achieved. then put the rod thru the desired hole.

if you can't get the belt on with the air pump in its lowest position then your belt is probably to small. or are you talking about clearing the fan blades? goodluck cause i haven't been there.........yet. its supposed to go in the garbage anyway, remember?

3i was just hoping that there was an easier way than taking the fan off.. i will look at it in a few minutes.. hopefully the fan can be taken off without removing the fan shroud or radiator (because i really donot want to have to do that)

you might be able to just put it over two blades, or one, or something like that and get it over the blades... but if I remember correctly, the belt is too short to fit over the blades...

I've got 2 10" fans pushing from the front, and my temp guage never goes above 1/2 way up even in 38 degree (celsius) in stop-and-go traffic in Kamloops....
