what's so unbeliveable abolut that ita an underdrive kit. those ususlly to allways give you5-10 hp at the wheels. Imagine if the car was hella pimped. Mazda racing is where i got my carb and intake from good guys there. not the best in the world but they try... its a small bussiness.

So you think this is worth 100$? What about the water pump, isn't running it 'underspeed' going to overheat the engine?

oh yeah.....by the way i told on you guys:

Ryan, check out this new link on our site and review the dyno sheet yourself:

(copy and paste if hyperlink does not work)

Unfortunately some of the guys on those forums are the most close minded people you'll ever talk to and hate to give credit when credit is due. In addition most of them like to bash others to make they're own products look better. We don't feel any need or obligation to bash anyone or put anyone down. This is a free country and everyone is entitled to their opinion. We are not going to send an email response to you with some sort of sales pitch telling you that we are the best and our products are the only way to make HP.

We would like to encourage you to do your own research, read our site, talk to others and base your opinion on knowledge that you obtain on your own, not from some close minded person on a message board.

Feel free to check out this link and see what others had to say about our products

Hrm, looking at that site it seems like it does give some horsies. 14 HP for $100 isn't that bad. I wonder if that's a realistic gain though, anyone else had experience with it?

And like that other guy said, wouldn't it be bad to slow down the water pump/alternator?

No, underdriving water pumps is normal.. we have been doing it for years.. specially on the 3rd gen RX-7.. because ~6-7K the water pump starts to cavitate.. Which will cause a problem..

And pulleys don't add HP/torque.. they just free up unsprung weight from the engine.. just like a lightened flywheel or lighter wheels..

This is nothing new people, where have you all been????

oh, and i am not so sure about mazdaracing.. i have heard bad things about them..

But if you are unsure of them, Racingbeat makes them and so do most other RX-7 vendors.. Alot of them have dual pulleys that let you run a dual belt on waterpump/alternator..

From their website:

Our all new Street Series Pulley System reduces your water pump and alternator speed, reducing cavitation and freeing up lost HP.

I thought idle cooling was more important that at rpm, since when you are moving the airflow over the radiator helps, but when stuck in traffic with only the fan pulling air through the rad , the idle cooling is most important. And that also goes for the alt.- Prolonged idling would run down the battery, right? My interior lights already are slightly dim at idle (of course it idles smooothly at only 550rpm with the a/c on )

I'll give credit where credit is due....... congrats on the sweet underdrive pullies!! Something I may look into.

14 hp though is a little hard to believe, I'd bet in reality its closer to 5-7Hp.

Dyno's aren't exactly known for their consistancy, if you were to average over 5-10 runs, you'd get a better, more accurate performance comparison. As it is, there are so many companies that use best/worst comparisons (ie the best with the product being marketed compared against the worst stock run). Its not hard to see a 5% difference between the best and worst stock runs.

Not that it matters, this is the kind of mod that make the car feel faster, because it makes the car have better throttle responce and more rev-happy, even if it doesn't "add" power.

Ok, underdrive pulleys are great if you're racing a lot and you are going to be pulling high rpm's a lot, but if not, don't mess with your ratios on your pulleys. Mazda knew what they were doing when they set up our engines. They weren't designed to drag race, but if that's what you want to do, then this is the product to get. check out www.revolutionrotary.com they have a nice set of underdrive pulleys as well.

Oh, and BTW, idling at 550 is a little too low as evidenced by your low interior lights.

>yeah, I figured either it was too low, or the tach wasn't acurate that low and my alt was going bad. What suprises me is that it idles perfecty smooooth even that low with the a/c load. Sweet. I love my seven, and am a bit scared to mess with it, and possibly (probably) mess it up.
I guess on an engine that was ported and already idling over 1k rpm that this would probably help the alt live longer.(?)

so what is it that makes this pulley different from other dual pulleys ie HIGGY's ROTOR SHAPPED PULLEY which is really COOL vs. this "No Pistions" one from mazda racing?????

again i say mazdaracing is the **** people told me i was dumb from ordering from them, but i was nothing but happy. my idle jets were way! too small, but they hooked it up and did an awsome job for me and if i ever get money again i will deffinatly order from them again. Also how havent you people heard of underdrive pullies. they're as typical as and intake and allways free up horse power. there is no pully kit that would ever make you lose power like some other "performance" patrs do.
