Thumbs up How fast?....

Out of simple curiosity, and the fact that I've only brought mine up to 95-100, how fast have any of you gone? Top speed?

Do a search for "fastest" or "top speed", it's been covered extensively in the past...you'll find a lot of interesting old threads, too, as a bonus...

Yea this was just covered about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

But anyway, I have hit 127 on a very slight down grade. It was still accelerating slowely.
I have hit around 118 on a flat run. it was also still accelerating.. My car feels like it might hit close to 125.

I was clocked 3 times at 144, 151, and 149.... in a 55 zone.

The officer gave me a ticket for 103 in a 65.

OK guys... can you answer this...

My car is an '85 GSL-SE, about 116,000 miles on it. I haven't really found any good straightaways around here without people in front of me, so I haven't even been able to cross 100. Also, the car seems to rattle alot. Maybe it's really not that much, just seems that way. I have really worn tires on the back, so do you think that's the problem? Or maybe there is no problem? It doesn't rattle out of control or anything, and PA isn't exactly known for smooth roads. I just don't know how far I should push it because I don't wanna blow the enjine at over 100mph speeds. Just wondering.

You need to wake up one Sunday morning at 5am and go find a nice long smooth straight. THAT is the safest way to speed on public roads. I have woke up many times in the middle of the morning (4-5am), and when I couldn't sleep I went for a spin. The BEST drives I have EVER had. People at work always ask why I was in such a good mood after mornings like that.

Indeed. Sunday mornings are great for that, I just don't really feel like being conscious on weekends until around noon.

I've had my SE up to 130mph in fifth, at about 57-5800 rpm. This is w/ true dual exhaust but the rest of the emissions intact. The car felt pretty light, but certainly not rattly or anything weird like that...

...130 in fifth is 57-5800? i don't have a speedometer but i've had mine to 6.5-6.7k in fifth... i figured i was only doing about 130-135 but was actually more like 160 i'm assuming, that's insane the car felt very stable too.

The ratteling is probobly caused by your tires. they are probobly a little out of balance, and if they are very worn, maybe even a little out of round.

Get some new tires and have them balanced really well and it will probobly fix the problem.
As far as the nose getting lite at speeds around 100 on up, thats pretty normal. (not sure if you have felt this before) If you really want to make the front end feel alot better, invest in a front air dam. wether it be the lip or full front end they will make the car feel alot better.

Nice. Well, mods are on the way, including new tires and 16" Velox rims. My tires ARE really worn, so i won't worry about it too much. As I said earlier, I've only taken my SE up to 100, and that was only around 3500-4000 RPM. Sounds good people. Woohoo.

Ok, I will take my radar/laser detector out of retirement and go drive the bypass. I doubt my rex will go over 110, but I will check.....

yup- 110mph is all she had. Has a tire vibration over 80, and the bypass was both full or traffic (dammm plants must let off around midnight), and has too many curves (those curves ssem tame at 60, but at 100 they are white nuckle afairs)__________

Try 140+ at 4:30am on a highway notorious for deer crossings.

At that point.... I figured, I was going out the only way I wanted to... in my car.

210km/h yesterday, but cruised around 180km/h most of the time. (100miles are about 160km)
I also hit the 215 mark once, but never more. Traffic is always to heavy.
With the FD I did do 245km/h, but then the traffic was getting in the way aswell.
