Tokico blues in 83

I went to test fit my Tokico Blue strut cartridge in my car today, and i was pissed to see that the stock nut won't work. I bought the blues used and didn't get any hardware with them, the guy told me they would fit like that, but they don't. Is it just a simple matter of calling up Tokico and getting the nuts, or is some custom work needed here? The car is a 83.

How so?
If the cartridge is sticking up above the strut housing, then you didn't get all the pieces out (this happend to me).
The only additional hardware that comes with the cartridge are thin spacers to shim the cartridge up if it's too short. If this is the case, just put a large washer in the strut housing before inserting the cartridge.

Hmm..... I guess something must be stuck in the bottom then cause it was up to high. Very odd. I'll have to check in the morning, when the paint is dry on them. One additional question reguarding the Blues, when you put the strut in the damper, does just the nut go on top or does something else go in there before the nut? When I pulled the old struts out there was another metal thing that looked like a seal of some kind, I don't think It would even fit with the tokicos, but is another seal of some kind required or is that nut all thats needed? thanks

ok seriously, theres no way the stock nut will fit. Will someone with a 81-83 confirm this? 84-85 may work seeing as the dampers are a bit different, but theres no way it will work for me. Nothing is stuck in the bottom or anything, it's just too tall. Any thoughts? guess i'll call tokico
