13B EFI. I turn the key to ON, wait for fuel pressure to build then crank it, it turns over maybe 3-4 times and goes. First time every time.

With my Mikuni sidedraft on my 12, I pump the gas 4-5 times and crank. Starts right up everytime unless its way below freezing, then I need to give it half-choke and no gas and it starts right up.

both my 1st gens would start right up after a rev or two.

i had a fun little procedure when i started the '83: wedge a nickel behind the choke lever (my choke system was broken), put key into on position, let pump run for a few seconds, quicly push the pedal to the floor twice, turn the key and it fired. then i'd have to babysit it until the ornery carb warmed up.

the '84 -se wasn't as fun when it was running. put key in, turn key, let it do it's thing.

She's never failed me -- turn the key, 2-3 revolutions and she's fired and running like a champ. It doesn't matter if it's 90 deg F out or 15 deg F....I love that damn car...

im not sure what you mean by sounds like a plane, but has just started to make a noise on start ups. it reminds me of the sound of a supercharger, but i definately dont have one of those. i think it has something to do with the fact that my tach just started going crazy. im going to switch out the alternater with a spare i have and the if it doesnt stop im going to get the batterie checked. hopefully it will fix both problems, if not, im heading after the ignitors.

hmm i counted mine today more carefully, basically it took about 3 output shaft rotations to start (just under), I counted about 8-9 exhaust pulses before it started up.

I hop in, turn on the battery cut off switch, pull out the choke to full, turn the key rrr..rrr.rrr....choke in......rrr..rr...popp blah pft pft blah pft pft.....running.

Thats only if I've had it running in the last 3-4 days. If not, its jump start or coast down the steep driveway time.

I have a battery drain I haven't been able to locate yet.
