how do you check the timing on 1st gen?

A friend came over yesterday and we found out that my coils are firing like they should so i borrowed a timing light and would like to know how to check the timing to make sure that the timing is correct and see if this is why i cant get it to start.. any one know how? TKS!

I'll be nicer than most and just give you the link

http://www.wankel.net/%7Ekrwright/fi...Electrical.pdf

and cuz it doesn't say in there...if you're looking at the e-shaft pulley you will see 2 marks as stated in the FSM. The one on the right is for leading, the one on the left is for your trailing. All other instructions are in the link.

BTW..you might be flooded.....but one step at a time

Download and read the FSM, this is auto mechanics 101. What the FSM fails to mention is you need to pull the vac lines off of the dizzy and plug them during timing.
