How do I remove the damn oil pipe?!
I'm most of the way through stripping down my motor, and I can't remove my oil pipe! The motor is an 84 12A with the metal oil pipe running from the front cover to the "beehive" oil cooler. I disconnected the banjo fitting at the cooler no problem, but the weird fitting on the front cover is making me crazy!
At first I tried to twist the outer hex portion, but that just twisted the pipe. Oops. At least I didn't crack it. Now I'm holding the outer hex stationary with one wrench and turning the smaller inner hex with another, but whichever way I turn it it doesn't seem to loosen. Help! I need to do this now!

if you twisted it it's done. cut it and save yourself the head ache.
you dont want to reinstall that pos anyway.
get a front mount oil cooler, save your engine.
if you need one i have some for sale.
pm me.

Yeah the line is too thin to take *any* bending.
But you're on the right track now. You have to hold the fitting closest to the engine in place, then turn the other fitting off of it counter-clockwise (when looking from the driver's side). Basically put the wrench on and turn it away from the engine, towards the rad.
It's a royal bitch if it's been on there more than a few seasons. LOTS of liquid wrench and/or PBBlaster, lots of time, some cursing... and probably just cutting it off and getting another one like I did, lol. Though I did kinda bend mine one entire turn and folded it in on itself.

Well I got it off, but I did twist it. I untwisted it but I after hearing this I don't want to take chances with my oil system. I'm going to have to get a new one. ****. I don't have time for crap like this. I have to get this car put back together and I don't want to prowl the junkyards for a pipe or figure out how to run an air-to-oil cooler right now. I ******* hate the bus!

the air ones are easy man. 2 hoses and some zip ties and your good to go.
it would be advisable to secure it better but i drove around for 3-4 years with zip ties and they held flawless.
