You either use a pump attached to the bottle or snake a hose up through the engine bay and use a funnel.

If you don't have either, stick a hose on the end of the bottle and squeeze the **** out of it. This method really sucks.

I gave up and used the last method before waiting for replies... i ran out of daylight and couldn't wait any longer to get finished... i un-hooked my overflow line for my radiator and attached it to the end of the bottle and squeezed the **** out of it until i got the bottle emptied. i grabbed another and started over, the question is how much i got in there because i do not know... would it be a bad idea to put another quart in even if it's more than should be in there?

Also it didn't help whatsoever with my gears grinding, i figure i might need more because of this reason as well... i bought 80w 90 is this good enough? it's valvoline semi-synethic.

edit: i just remember my car was still jacked up at an angle when i drained it and left probably quite a bit of old fluid in there... if these gear oil weights are different is that going to cause a problem?

You know you've put enough in when it spills out, I wouldn't worry too much about having old oil in there....Same thing happens with the engine remeber! Different oil weights won't cause a problem as far as i know...espically with such a small amount.

It wasn't spilling out yet...but i was more worried about old shavings being in there still because none drained out with the old oil.

If there were alot of shaving they should be stuck to the magnetic drain plug. When you removed it, did u notice anything stuck to it? Shouldn't be too much on there. Some HAD to drain out, probably didn't have much in your oil to begin with...

How did you eventually get the drain plug out?

I think what they mean by that is that the bolt you took out has a magnetic end to it... to attract any particles that fall to the bottom...

But that's just my *guess* I could be wrong

I am pretty sure the drain plug is on the bottom of the tranny.

The fill plug is on the side, and you're supposed to fill it until it reaches level witht he fill plug.

BTW, you can also fill it (albeit slower) through the shifter location.

Yeah,

I got it figured out, but got lazy, and didn't have a jack at the time, so I took the car to Jiffy Lube and paid the bastards $33.00 to flush my gear oil and throw some new oil in.

It DID make shifting smoother....so I was pretty low on oil before I changed it.

It's a little harder on an incline, with only part of the car jacked up, but you're supposed to feel the oil in there as soon as your finger goes in the hole.

If you don't have a magnetic drain plug, you should probably invest in one. They're only like $5.00 at AutoZone.

Is this even possible on a later style (non SA) tranny?

nope!

Alot of people have posted on here that you can't on an FB.

It seems you'll have to use the "IV" method!

Do a search for Aaron Cake's method of tranny filling. He has a really good write up on his website for it.
