How can you build up a 12a tanny

My engine is comming out for a streetport and I'm thinking of rebuilding my tranny if I can strengthen it somehow. Except when its cold it shifts well. When cold it is hard to get into 1st.
What about things like upgraded syncros, cryo treating the gears and a new shifter.

any ideas.

626 Gear Swap...

there are a few things you can do...

Replace all the main gears with the guts of a 626 box. Tighter gear range and "supposed" better performance. Polishing is great, lighten and balance the channels on each gear.

BEST recommendation I can make is learn (if you don't already know how to) how to Heal/Toe... It will add MANY additional shifts to your gear box....This is speaking from experience.

I can heal toe. It is a fundamental skill of drifting. which I do alot with my old 13s and 165s. But when Im at the races and Im running 205/50/r15s and Im shifting really hard and fast, I worry about the gears. I have yet to even remotely grind the gears.

SDJ

What class are you racing in that you can run 15s with a 12a? Just curious...

Anyway...if your racing and want a good way to go on a race tranny...call Stan at SDJ motorsports in Mooresville, N.C.

He can really hook you up!

Class??

I race illegally at RedRock industrial district near minneapolis, MN.

It gets rid of annoying things like classes and tech inspections.
