Hot start

I have disconnected my Hot Start Assist Motor, when I remove the cable the linkage just hangs there and moves from the position it was in when connected. Is it ok to leave like this? Should the spring also be removed or does something else need to be done to keep it in the exact position it is in when hooked up?

Very true. Mine was disconnected when I got the car. It is now hooked up, to keep the throttle from hanging wide open, again...............
