horsepower?

What horsepower do you guys think i will be getting to the rear wheels with just a streetported 12A and a full exhaust with stock carb? The guy who is getting my motor said 130-140 at flywheel, but with a proper tune do you think i will get more then that?

130/140 is easy with a simple carb/exhaust upgrade on a stockport motor. that is what I intend on having.

Sterling modded nikki i believe would work. I personally would go weber. I have an OER 45mm, which is essentially a racing series of a weber, useing most components the weber 45dcoe has.

I would use a 45, 48's can be used, but are more useful if it is on a heavy streetport or bridgeport. check racing beat for the 48 if you want one. I will see if i can find what i got...

Thats to the fly. and if you have to watch for emissions, forget about it unless your an expert on tuning and/or know someone who you can slip a few bucks past to get it passed

I say you could reach it. the stock carb would definatelty be holding you back though. I planned on this setup in the future if my parents will allow me. then down the road get an 48 ida weber carb. I don't know though, could be wrong about HP. not a carb expert.

i would go with a holley, you can get stuff to tune then easily, and parts and pieces are a dime a dozen at any respecable speed shop. i have had my holley completly apart and back together with no problem and i have changed about everything it can with from Racing beat. you can pretty much tune a holley with very little knowledge at all, a little research and understanding and time you can get what you want from it. i got the RB 465cfm on my 12a streetport, i went up to a 50cc accel pump, 52 jets on primarys, secondary conversion plate so i can put jets on the secondary side where i put 66 jets. i still run vaccum advance but modified a holley secondary spring to get what i wanted. I would do a lot of research on what you wont, your price tag, and your own knowledge.

Hmm, good luck passing emissions with even the stock carb. Carb size doesn't have much to do with the emissions your car puts out. Its all in how well the car can burn the fuel thats being put into it and the recycling of spent gasses. The streetport is going to affect your emissions a lot. It may pass, it may not. It most likely won't pass emissions testing with a streetport.

That 165 is at the flywheel BTW, and thats only if you tune the carb right. You'll most likely end up with something closer to 155 I think.

You will need to put the cats back on to pass emissions. A small street port with the stock carb and good working cats with the engine in tune will not have a problem passing. A large street port however will cause problems.
