NO your the only one. Not really but it's been covered enough times before. Since the first gens had no rev limiter this is to discourage you from over-reving

Heh, I remember the first time I heard that sound many years ago. Ah memories.

BTW it is adjustable if you are interested.

Yea...FD's have the rev buzzer too, but they also have a rev limiter...

I lost the rev buzzer on my FD a while back when I ditched the stock ECU, and when I heard the rev buzzer on the FB, I just cracked the BIGGEST smile hehe. I miss that thing.

Wow, I've never heard that.
Guess that proves that I don't over-rev the SA.
Anyway, I learned something new today, thanks!
(Suppressing the urge to go test this out...)

from what i've been told, 8400 is when the apex seals start to chatter in a stock 12a, so you never want to go above that if you can possibly avoid it.

chatter = seals start to possibly gouge the rotor housings.

I know Lt. Dan regularly revs his engine to 9K plus during autocross. He told me he found that's the best way to pull the rear around lol...just drop it from 4th to 2nd, the rear wheels lock, and she slides like a dream...

we've had our streetported 12A to ~12k before. with carbon apex seals. this was a complete accident, don't ask haha. Anyways car still runs and it wasn't under load when this happened. Sure was spitting flames out the tailpipe though..... reallllly really loud

well ok i guess i'll tell you we're a student rcing organization at western michigan university. Our shop got broken into at some stuff got stolen. Our tach got stolen so we hooked up a new one. well every year new people join the club so one guy hooked up the tach as usual but missed one thing. He wired it up as a 8 cyl instead of 4cyl like its supposed to. Mind you this was hooked up just before we put in our newly rebuilt SP. So anyways we break it in and stuff and your supposed to rev up and down. well the president of teh club says what the hell it won't go past 6k. in the mean time we're scratching our heads wondering why its so damn loud and spitting flames. Come to find out it was basically turning about 12k. Let me tell you adjusting timing at that speed is scary, mostly after the fact that you find out how fast the engine was really going haha. Forgive us we're dumb.

The Rev "buzzer' has been around since the Rx3, and it's a very good little feature. I love it.
