Hood shocks/struts, think its possible?

Every newer car i see these days has hood struts/shocks, is it possible to rig a set to work with our reverse style hoods?

I would love to do away with that cheesy hood prop rod, seeing how i am always showing the engine off, lol.

Possible?

I did it to mine when I didn't have anything in the front drivers side area. I used a spare hatch strut made a simple bracket and connected one end to the top bolt of the hood hinge (as you're looking at it with the hood up) and the other end to somewhere on the shock tower, I can't remember what hole and what went there stock.

I did this when I had the "other engine" in there and with the current engine there is no room for how I had it and haven't cared enough to figure out another way.

Short answer, yes it's possible... I got the idea from another member but I can't remember who... may have been RotorMotorDriver but again, not really sure.

I've seen some previous threads on the subject but don't remember anyone actually doing it. If you do then you will have to use a lower pressure shock such as they use on the camper shells. Those come in a variety of PSI ranges. From 20lbs on up.

I can't get the photos to work. The strut rod is from a hatchback car. (There is a rear hatch defroster wiring tab on each end of the strut.) The strut attaches to the hood with a "L" bracket/ bolt and to the strut tower near the bottom with a bolt. Once you pop the hood you can lift it with a finger and it holds the hood open just fine. I'll try again to post the pics later.
