Question Hood Release??

Hi There, I just bought a 1985 and I have no idea where the hood release is... I keep getting "it's right below the steering wheel, near the back" and I have looked for 20 mins now and found nothing!! Can soeone point me in the right direction?

If you keep getting that, than it's probably because that's where it is. Are you sure it's not broken/missing? Because it IS underneith the dash on the left. Kinda odd..

um no, it's supposed to return back once it's pulled. is there a lot of resistance when it's pulled or pushed?

Check the spring on the latch at the firewall. If it is working, then lube the latch and work it back and forth. Also check the cable for any binding or kinks.

I dread the thought that the cable may stick or break some day and my hood won't open. Somewhere on the forum are a couple of ideas for releasing the hood from underneath or from the side using a yardstick, tho.

Mine has stuck every since i had my wreck, it won't retract and sometimes i forget and the hood will fly up going down the road. Thank god for backwards hoods or I would be replacing a lot of windshields.
