holly help

I have a Holly 465 on my 12a (i was told it was bridge ported by the previous owner). no rats nest, no emissions, MSD Blaster 2's, Magnacore 8.5mm wires, RB SP header, RB Duals, grounding kit, etc. I was out last night driving on some back roads, and I realized that there is something definately odd about my car. sometimes it accelerates and rips through the upper rev range like a bat out of hell, and sometimes it is very lazy getting through the upper rpm's (i'm talking 6500 to 8k), even in first and second gear. I'm wondering if this is caused by my secondaries not opening all the time, or something to do with my timing. I'm pretty new to FB's, i've read some stuff about adjusting the dizzy (btw, WTF is the dizzy?) when you remove the rats nest to perminately advance timing. would it be the secondaries not opening, or my timing adjusting itself?

does your car idle like *brap, brap, brap* ? the carb is probably vaccum secondary and the secondaries very well could be staying closed or only half open. do the screw trick (search) and go up a size on the squirter and you should be fine. and the timing thing people are telling you to do is to *lock* the dizzy/distributor in full advance. how the turbo guys do it. also (search "locked dizzy").

yes, 465 on a bridge port, it's the way I bought the car from the previous owner in july, and he was an idiot. i'm fixing everything that he fucked up before I start to spend real money. Before I spend the money on a new carb, i'm going to make sure that it's idling high because of a bridge port and not because of low compression.

it does idle "brap, brap, brap", but in very fast succession at 2k rpm, which is why i sort of believe him that it's a bridge port.

i'll check out the screw trick and i'll look at the locked dizzy.

some video clips of sounds

listen to this. only the ports on the drivers side (closest to the engine) are injecting fuel.
