Holley tuning question...

Okay guys, motor is up and running.... Idles TERRIFIC!!!! The problem I'm having, is that when I start to dip into the throttle, it bogs and sputters for a couple seconds, and then clears up at 4K rpm.... Suggestions?

get the 50cc accellerator pump. sounds like you need a better shot. OH, also go up a couple squirter towers. what do you have now? say you have a 28, go to a 32 i think. that would be two steps up. that should help a lot.

Before you change any parts, check the adjustment. That is critical to off idle perfromance. Search, I did post the procedure here a while back. I think it was to help FBII.

how old(used) is this carb? the nylon cam that works the accelerator pump will wear in the area of normal cruise speed, causing similar problems, this is from experience with a setup(465cfm) on a stock 12a. since building the 13b i have now, i use a little dab of grease on this 600cfm, after rebuilding it, to keep that wear to a minimum.

I have a 35 accelerator pump, it came with a 25 from racing beat. Made a big difference. I sure do love how those carbs idle though, and they make good power. I could probably use an even bigger AP, but the 35 works for now.
If that doesn't work, jets are very easy to change, but the RB jetting works well for me. Check for vaccum leaks.

the color of the little plastic cam on mine is white.... I talkted to the guys in the tech department at Racing Beat, and they said that it was probably an AP problem.... They said that there was a way that I could "re-install" the cam so that the "ramp" is more severe.... Uh........

The cams have different profiles, the more severe the more it moves the lever, the more the fuel comes out.

I got a 50cc Accelerator pump on Jegs.com, less than $50 I think. It was the best $50 I ever spent, eliminated all of the off idle issues.
