Holley Tune Question
well guys as my sig says i have a rebuilt 12a and its got a 465cfm holley racing beat carb. the only thing is i was to get it more responsive and get a little more kick out of it, when i mat it i want it to feel like its matted. well any suggestions. i have it tuned as far as idle mixture but not really went in depth with it. there has to be some tricks out there. just give me some hints thanks robert

i thought the same thing, i now know how to work on carbs, simply leave it be, RB has it all covered.
check any of my holley threads and trust me, after reading it, you will want to leave it alone.
the only thing i can tell you without fear, make sure the springs on the acceleratior pump are perfectly tight, that was the one small thing i did fidn from rb, i got a little more response from taking the slack out of them.

If you have a Truly RB StreetPort Prepped 465cfm Holley.
Suggested Upgrades that will really Spunk it Up is.
1. Remove the Primary Float Bowl and check what size Jet is in there now.
49-50 is what they send out in the StreetPort Version. (Bump it to 52 or 53).
2. Buy the Secondary Spring Kit and change out the Spring to Short Yellow or Long Yellow Spring. Whichever one does not give you that Flat Spot ie Delay in Transaction. Some people think that the Bang in the Butt Feel is more Power during the transaction and really it's a Delay.
3. Change out the Side Hung Float Bowls to Center Hung Float Bowls and get either the Russel or Earls Duel Fuel Feed Line. This one Mod by itself really made a Huge Difference in how the Holley Responded on the Curves or Straight Line. RB uses a Primary Vented Float Bowl which is a Problem in how we mount these Carbs on a Rotary.
This is just a Quick Start On How To Get The RB Carb to Act like what it should for How Much We Pay These Guys to build them @ RB.
I've had 4 Brand New RB Prepped Holleys over the years and everyone I have had to some playing around with them.
I have talked to Jim @ RB over the Years and he always comes back with (Well every Holley will have it's own Quirks). Great Answer!!!
AnyHow if ya need anymore ideas or HLY-Part#s let us know.

Center Hung Float Bowl Kit For 4150-4160
HLY-34-2 Contains Prim & Sec Float Bowls
Secondary Vacumn Quick Cange Kit
HLY-20-59
Spring Kit= includes all colors
HLY-20-13
Anyplace that Sells or order Holley Parts.
Cheaper than RB.
As far as the Srew Trick.
Before we changed out to the Kits we tried the Installing the Screw in 3 different positions and lost 3/4 to 1 Sec on the Dino Because you cannot achieve a smooth transition between Pri & Sec.
Trust me on this. (I thought this was Total Bull) until I was proved wrong with my car on a Dino.
Every How To Mod Your Holley Book will state the same thing.
After we installed the Kit I would not have believed the Results if I had not Seen it on the Sheet and Felt the Difference.
But to each has there own opinion!
Have Fun

I'm sure there are some ways to do it with no out of pocket expenses.
Everthing over the years that I've tried has never worked.
But keep asking cause someone out there in the Holley-Rotor World I'm sure will have an answer.
Check out NoPiston or MazdaTrix Sites and see if you can find out some helpfull info there.
