Holley problems

I have a new RB Holley carb setup on 1983 w/ a streetport 12a.

The idle will not go lower than 2400 rpm. the idle screw is loose and I tried disconnecting the throttle cable and OMP with no help. If I mess with the auto choke and it some times goes down for a bit. It feels like something is binding.

Any ideas?

Yepper, the throttle plates are out of alignment "or" a big vaccuum leak "or" secondary throttle plate set screw up too high.. Check for the vac leak first. Next, locate the throttle stop for the secondary plates and back it off. As for the primary plates, back off the idle screw, then remove the carb. Each butterfly is help on with 2 screws. Loosen one at a time and see how far back you can get the throttle.

"secondary throttle plate set screw up too high" 84stock ^^^^ My guess as well. I would check that little set screw by the secondary throttle plate. Has to be adjusted from the bottom of the carb.

I found out the problem was the auto choke was turned to tight and was binding the throttle. It is now all fixed.
